I love the Bears, but have such a hard time getting into them before September
Ho early I really get into it usually depends on the Cubs. Last year the Cubs were so putrid I was ready right from the beginning of Training Camp. This year I'm too focused on the Cubs' season to feel ready for football yet. But I definitely will be once they start playing games.

I heard this on the radio the other day, and would like to know what you guys think.

List the top 5 guys, in order, that the Bears CANNOT lose to injury.

My uneducated and uniformed guess:

1) Benson

2) Grossman

3) Urlacher

4) Kreutz

5) Berrian?

I don't think Grossman is even in the top 5 of players I'm worried about losing to injury.

Its probably like

1) Urlacher

2) Tait

3) Briggs

4) Harris

5) Another Random Offensive Linemen

Not Benson at all?

It would put us in a horrible RB position....I am not confident at all that AP can pull full-time weight.

hahahaha, remember when that reporter wrote a big article taking Chicago to task for drafting a guy with such a horrible (a.k.a. he performed a derogatory rap song as a freshman in college) past as Greg Olsen?

Without hesitation, Greg Olsen stood up in the dining hall the other day and delivered the rap song veteran Bears teammates ordered him to perform.

Rookie hazing at training camp is an NFL rite of passage that dates to the leather helmet days, and not even first-round picks such as Olsen are exempt.

So on cue, Olsen uncorked a censored version of the X-rated ditty he earned infamy for recording as rapper "G-Reg," back when he was an 18-year-old University of Miami freshman.

A lot more about Greg in the article.

I think Hester should be in there...he won a couple of games more or less on his own last year...or at least kept us in them...like the Arizona game.

IMO, The Bears did improve during this off-season, but this probably won't be shown in their record.

Hopefully the improvement will be shown in their postseason success.

I definitely agree with that. It's a much tougher schedule so I think their regular season record will drop a bit despite being a better, deeper team.

We'll see...it might be a tougher schedule, but we also still have something like the 2nd easiest schedule in the league.

yeah, we still play in the north--and we still play the same basic schedule that everyone in the north plays.

Except everyone else in the North has to play the Bears, so it makes their schedules tougher on paper.

Did anybody else see Tank Johnson's interview on ESPNews? He basically said he holds no grudges against the Bears. They did a lot to help him both privately and publicly, and he put them in a bad situation, basically forcing them to cut ties. He took blame for the whole thing. I don't know if it was just lip service or not, but it sounded sincere.

I don't think it's lip service. He said it before too, right after the Bears released him.

BEAR DOWN

I think the most impressive and positive thing about that article, is the fact that the person heaping all that praise on Olsen, is fellow TE Des Clark.

Top 5 can't lose to injury

1- Urlacher

2- Benson

3- Kreutz

4- Tait (not that he's awesome, but o line injuries could derail this team

5- Harris (if he misses all of the season, the defense will suffer greatly)

6- Grossman For this team to win the SB, they need Grossman to do well. They could get by with Orton or Griese, but without the upside I don't see them as much of a threat.

I agree with peoples comments on Bears being better this year. Another thing i feel was neglected in that article is the current players expected to get better. Its not atypical for rookies and 2nd year players to improve on their game from the previous year. Berrian, Grossman, Anderson, Bradley, D.Manning and even Benson i expect to be better players this year than last.

I like the DT position better than last year. Walker>>Tank and Dusty and Adams are better fits for this defense than Boone/Scott.

I have a hard time believing this team will create as many turnovers as last year but they will be giving up less yards on defense. This defense is going to be freaking bad ass.

I had a real tough time with 5. Could easily be Harris or Tillman too.

Whoa, what did I miss? Isn't Harris 100% and ready to go?

We're talking about future injury. The Bears lost Harris, but survived last year, partly because he was around for most of the year. They've shown they can win games without him, but I don't see this team retaining home field advantage without him for most of the year.

Just gotta say, I'm not a big fan of the whole "who we can't afford to lose" discussion. It's kinda like the Cubs injury thread...it's just bad mojo.
