Izturis traded to the Pirates for a PTBNL

We had to send the Dodgers $2M cash to get Izturis, now we're eating the remaining 2/3 of his contract to get rid of him, and he's already been paid for playing about a full season's worth of games. This has been an expensive fiasco and a good example of how money does matter. Teams with smaller payrolls can't easily afford these types of mistakes.

I just cant believe how far the Pirates have fallen in the last 6 games. I would assume given their hot end to the first half that a .500 season any maybe even playoff contention were some of the goals for the second half. Then 6 losses in a row later, they are trading for Izturis for some reason.

I'm guessing we're trying to trade Wilson. He's been in a few animated conversations in the dugout during games lately. And, he's due 7.0 Million.

That's probably why he was traded. Ramirez was probably unthrilled about his roving hands during celebrations and his wandering eye in the showers. Hendry offered Ramirez his opportunity for retribution and picked a trade to Pittsburgh as poetic justice.

 

My understanding is that Ramirez made the deal with Littlefield.
