I honestly don't understand what compels people to do this. It's not one or two people, it's 20+ and it's not once or twice every fifth year. It happens two or three times every year. Part of me almost understands when your bullpen blows a 6 run lead in the top of the 9th. But after Ramirez drives in the winning run, on national television, when the team is playing it's best baseball......that I can remember EVER? Where is the logic in that?

Pathetic

They're going to wind up taking away the beer, and then will people ever be sorry.

No, they won't. The make too much money by selling it.

Those same fans sat in LF just to heckle Bonds.

But yeah, I don't mind trash on the field when its deserved... But when we're winning, that's pretty damn stupid.

Wow. Just wow.

Under no circumstances is such boorish and shameful behavior acceptable.

FYI, you're part of the problem.

I am all for restrictions on beers sales and fines for this behaviour. If that doesn't work, jail time. However, I am for arresting fans right now if they intentionally dump something on players.

I figured that's what must have happened, but has there been any video or reporting confirming this?

By the way, the whole New Orleans Saints thing was vastly overblown. The New Orleans media attacked us for photo shopped pictures that were floating around the internet, not actually problems at the game. Plus New Orleans is much worse place to attend a game,(just ask any one who attended last years Bears/Saints game in LSU). I admit that Solider Field is not the most friendly place in the world, but the NFC championship game in a city in which has not seen such a sight since Ryne Sandberg had a stach is not the best place for opposing fans to hang out. Overall Chicago is one of the top three best sports city.

I just saying stop the lies and open your eyes to the truth. As a Bears fan, I was greatly offended by the claims of the Saints and there fans and I really was offended that the national media ran with stories which were short on facts and a little bit of sore losers syndrome.

I'm not saying all Bears fans were the problem, but I was at the game and I heard some really, really terrible things being said to some Saints fans that were nearby. And a buddy of mine corraborated that story from another section of the stadium.

I mean, we're talking despicable things. Although I will admit that other Bears fans and I took turns shouting those drunken idiots out.

I'm all for arrests. En masse, if necessary.

I'm just afraid if people don't shape up they'll wind up doing some really sucky things, like cutting off Beer sales in the 5th, or limiting beer sales, or even worse roping off the first two rows of the bleachers or something really bad like that.

LOL..who did that fatass know in the Tribune company to get such a job.

c'mon... he works on the grounds crew, it's not like you have to be in peak physical condition to do that sort of thing. I feel bad for the guy, he's obviously overweight and wasn't able to keep up with the rest of the grounds crew, and for some reason the ESPN cameraman saw fit to single him out on national television.

That sucked, on a 2 run double, and the field gets littered with trash.

How about this as a solution. Put some undercover security guards on the front of the bleachers (close to the chain link fence hanging over the wall) where they can observe the area and to signal out the offending party.

I was at a game where they came out to pick up some garbage and one of them actually fell down. Might of been that guy.

I couldn't agree more. I'm not condoning throwing anything on the field and would never do it, but like you said, I can sort of understand a blown lead, but not when the team takes the lead. Then it's just stupid.

I was listening on the radio with the Giants announcers and they had no idea what was going on either and were wondering why the Cubs fans were throwing stuff onto the field when their team just went ahead.

yeah what the hell was this about? you shouldn't throw trash on the field ever, but at least i understand why it's happening when an ump blows a call or the bullpen blows a lead. But when your team hits a clutch 2-out double? Come on.

You've got to be kidding me.

Throwing trash on a field (or any property that does not belong to you) is, pardon the pun, trashy. There is absolutely no excuse for that kind of behavior. To see people seemingly condoning this behavior disgusts me. There is no time, there is no place, for people to throw trash onto a field of play. Throwing anything on the field is expressly prohibited on ticket stubs still, isn't it?

uh, didn't i say that people shouldn't throw trash on the field, but i at least understand why it's happening when the cubs or the umps screw up? Better work on that reading comprehension champ.

Oh yeah...

I don't know if it was the Cubs, but one of these groundscrew guys got sucked under the tarp as they were taking it off the field. God, that was funny. I felt bad for the guy though.

You don't have to be in peak physical shape, but for crying out loud...the little slob probably will collapse on the field someday.

Okay, both of you need to get your asses kicked. Just because he's overweight means he shouldn't be allowed to do anything physical? Screw you than, maybe he should just go sit on his ass and get fatter? Yeah, great plan.

Lighten up francis. He can go workout at Bally's and come back when he can keep up with the rest.
