Xavier Nady is hitting 292/343/509.

His career line is 273/329/443. He can play both RF and CF.

Would the Pirates be interested in trading him?

I think he would make an interesting target.

Nady's got 2 more years of arbitration, isn't making a ton now(2.15 mil), isn't blocking anyone, isn't playing below expectations, and AFAIK hasn't punched a teammate. Hard to see much reason for the Pirates to trade him unless we were to overwhelm them.

I posted the same in the 'buyers' thread. I think he fits the Hendry target. I could see us offering Murton and maybe a passable arm for him.

what's the point... Murton is probably a better player than Nady. PECOTA sure thinks so, anyway.

I wouldn't want that. I think Murton projects to be better than Nady, and as TT stated, the Pirates might be more inclined to hang onto him because he's not very expensive.

I was for adding Nady last year when he still was a Met. I am sure we could have gotten him for Maddux. Hit lefties real well. I would rather have Murton also.

Why not swap Murton for Nady? Murton will be the overall better hitter but Nady will probably have more pop. Nady is an excellent RF with a cannon, while Murton is an average outfielder with a decent arm, who is more suited to LF. Since Soriano is going to be there for, well, the next 7 years, Murton looks like he has no position on the Cubs at the moment.

Murton/Marshall and filler for Nady would be cool with me.

I think this trade would be worth giving up Murton, but I don't see hendry doing it. Still this would work well.

I can't see the Pirates trading him. As others have stated, he's reasonably young, cheap, and productive.

I figure the Pirates would trade Nady for Bobby Hill and Jose Hernandez... then maybe they'd throw in Kenny Lofton as well... oh, wait a second...

I got the Pirates announcers for the game yesterday, and believe it or not, they think the Pirates still have a shot to make the playoffs this year. After they talked about their record at the all star break last year (30-60), I don't blame them for being giddy.

yeah i listened to them on XM and you would have thought being 9 games back of first at the ASB was all they could have dreamed of. They kept calling their starter "Sugar Shane" as well, it made me want to drive my car into a ditch.

Couple of things....

First of all, Nady isn't going anywhere. Period. As others have said, he's cheap for the next two years, nad he's playing some good baseball right now.

Next: Paulino. True, he's having a sucky year. He did hit .310 last year, and he's starting to hit again. Management likes him enough to have moved Neil Walker to third base.

Next: the Bobby Hill trade. (I refuse to call it the Arams trade) I can't believe you guys keep bringing that up. I've posted enough on that trade around here, and others have too. If you think that trade was a pure fleecing by Hendry, I'll let you consider that.

Finally: Winning the division. It's true, we do have a chance. It may be 1%, but we do have a chance. We couldn't say that at this time last year. But, we've been playing a lot better lately. LaRoche is hitting, finally. Mahalom has finally settled down his pitching, we seem solid 1-3 over the past month, and Youman looks like the real deal. Freddy is getting comfrotable at Second base. Nady has been coming on of late. Paulino has been sucking less lately. Our Bullpens is melting down a lot less often. We just won four series in a row, which included the top two teams in our division.

Our lineup sometimes has a solid 2-6: Freddy, Nady, LaRoche, Bay, Doumit (I wish Doumit would play more often!) McClouth is hitting in the 290s when he starts.

Things are coming together for us. We're still a long shot. But, look what happens when teams take us for granted.

If we could just get that proverbial lead off center fielder, we'd have a lot better shot. Ain't gonna happen, but it's nice to dream...

I just dropped Paulino in a fantasy league. That should guarantee him a good second half. :D

I listened to them during the telecast as well and wow they were horrible. Half the game they were eating something or the camera was on them. Makes me appreciate Len and Bob that much more.
