1 IP, 1 BB, nothing else of significance

Len said that if Kerry feels OK tomorrow, he will pitch back to back on Thursday and Friday. That's a pretty big step.

Question: Are the Cubs going to keep moving Kerry up the minor league ladder or are they going to fast track him to the big club so they can take advantage of whatever bullets he has available in his arm?

Hopefully the first option, and won't the Cubs have to make a 40 man roster move before they can activate him?

I believe so, but there are numerous options. Release/trade Miller release Dope, and others also

As long he's still in one piece, that's pretty significant enough for me.

Miller's on the 60 day DL, so he won't help. The non-trade options are pretty much DFA Dope or DFA Coats.

Just got back from the game. Wood was consistently in the 90-92 range with his fastball. His best fastball was at 94mph. He threw one slider that was at 81 with some bite on it. His fastball ranged from 89-94.

He looks like a totally different person with the amount of weight he lost. It is really hard to tell after just one inning of work. It will be interesting to seem him pitch on back to back days. I wouldn't be shocked if his fastball on the second day was sitting in the mid 80's. He needs to build up some arm strength before he comes back. Probably another 2-3 weeks of rehab would be my guess.

Yep. We were outside the stadium and flames and baseball pointed out Wood in his warmup jacket, and I honestly didn't believe it was him. He has lost a ton of weight.

I came away unimpressed with his outing. Not saying he did anything bad, just unimpressed. His fastball was 92 most of the time, and it had 94 once. As baseball said, he threw one slider and besides that didn't throw ant offspeed stuff. He also struggled with his command a bit.

I can't see him coming up to the majors for AT LEAST a week and a half, and a more realistic timetable is probably early-mid August.

I took some pictures and videos with my phone (so it obviously won't be good quality), and I'll post them here shortly.

I'm going to be at Friday's game... hopefully he's feeling up to pitching.

Also... I sure hope I get to witness Hank White in person!!!11!1

Hank looked sluggish to say the least last night.

reds44, you know you are a Cubs fan ;)

It would be so great to see Wood start again someday with the Cubs, but I guess he'll just have to be an excellent setup man.

I'd be happy just seeing him pitch.

Where are you seeing them say he will be back by the end of next week if all goes well? Id be shocked if that was the case.

Per rotoworld:

Kerry Wood is expected to make a few rehab appearances with Triple-A Iowa when stint with Single-A Peoria is over.

Wood is expected to pitch for Peoria on Thursday and Friday and some thought he might come off the disabled list after that, but the Cubs want to be cautious with his fragile arm. "If he's healthy, he's healthy," manager Lou Piniella said. "That's the key. A nice pick-up. You have an experienced pitcher with a nice, fresh arm."

Source: Chicago Tribune

And before that:

Kerry Wood (shoulder) threw 12 pitches in a scoreless inning for low Single-A Peoria on Tuesday.

Wood didn't get any strikeouts while facing four batters. The next step for him will be to throw on back-to-back days Thursday and Friday. If that goes well, he'll move up to Triple-A Iowa with an eye towards returning sometime next week.

I saw kerry in person tonight and he looked outstanding. seemed extremely focused and was really popping the catchers mit, seemed to have command of all his pitches as well. the one single against him wasn't hit too soundly and sort of blooped over the SS. He looked great.

If somebody actually sits close to the field when Wood is pitching can you shout at him that eating th postgame buffet will NOT injure him.
