I was at the last Chiefs game that he pitched at. Then he proceeded to come up and have all of his issues again. I refuse to get too excited about him this time.

And good lord he looks thin.

I strongly predict his return would probably be my most emotional moment as a Cubs fan.

Seriously, I hope the Wrigley fans give him a 10 minute standing ovation the first day he takes the mound.

Sadly, it will probably be the opposite.

I doubt it. Kerry Wood is probably the most universally loved player the Cubs have had since Sandberg

this is the over-statement, I believe most people pray he does well but expects his failure with him returning to the DL. I have never been a fan of his ever since he held out after he was drafted.

I would say D. Lee is far more loved followed by Maddox

I highly doubt Tommy Maddox is more loved than Kerry Wood

I was out by the players parking lot during a game in 2005 waiting for players to come out. The first player to come out was a disabled Kerry Wood. When he walked out, a guy yells "KERRY WOOD GET THE HELL OUT OF CHICAGO YOU BUM!" and then the rest of the crowd, almost if on cue started a long, loud booing. Kerry pretended like he didn't notice it, but you could see it in his eyes that he did.

Experiences like that make me wonder why he said that he owed it to the fans to come back this season.

that's a really upsetting story.

i can understand being frustrated and dissapointed by the guy... but yelling angrily at him? even booing him? to his face? that's classless, and the fact the Kerry can see through it to his true fans speaks a lot about his character, I think.

I'm not sure what Maddox was traded to Atl, the only one I can think of left as a FA to join Atl and that would be Greg Maddox.

Its Maddux. There, can we get back on point instead of railing someone for misspelling one of the greatest players of all time's last names. Thanks.

Which was funny the first 5 times someone mentioned it. The poor guy made a mistake, big effin deal. People come to this board for information, not jokes or bonding alleged internet friends.

And he was given information on how to spell Maddux. you are making a mountain out of a mole hill. This place would be very boring if it was all news, no humor

Was at the game on Sunday, and Kerry was in the outfield shagging batting practice balls. The fans were clamoring and shouting for him. Kerry Wood, by most accounts, is still very highly regarded because of the 20K outing vs the Astros (/ducks) and for his performance in the latter half of the 2003 season and 2003 playoffs. Of course, the people who object and want to criticize - or just yell at a player out of frustration - will be the loudest.

I kinda took that is CubbieRich was at the game and yelled something stupid at Kerry and then everyone booed CubbieRich, not Kerry.

Were they booing Wood or booing the guy that shouted at Wood?

Most fans are idiots.

Sad but true.

That loudmouth who yelled at Kerry wasn't even a Cub fan; just an obnoxious, bandwagoning drunk.

any word on why?

why he hasn't pitched yet? he wasn't going to start according to the PBP guy. he was going to be the first reliever in.
