We're not getting much back, but at least EPatt is staying put. I would hope that Hendry has a move in mind to bring in some more offense, because now we have a definite black hole at C.

Hasn't Soto also been playing 1b since he hasn't been healthy? I don't think the Cubs think that he's a viable option at Catcher at the Major League level at this time, given health and development.

 

Health is probably the reason. He's developed quite nicely as a hitter and a defensive catcher.

Linebrink is a good reliever, but EPatt should have been used as part of a better package. Our offense is also now weaker than it was 24 hours ago.

 

This is why I don't trust Hendry to deal anyone, ever. He's the king of trading low.

How many players actually get traded at their peak value? Not that many.

 

Not very many, true, but it would be nice to not trade someone at their lowest possible value.

Barrett was a ball-player who happened to play catcher, and not very well. You cannot afford to have a catcher who doesn't do catcher stuff well. That was him.

Every report I've seen has labeled Bowen as at least an above average defender.

Next Tuesday is/was Barrett Jersey day at the park, and next Sunday was supposed to be Barrett bobblehead day! They should make a Z bobble-arm (with a solid punching motion) to go with it.

1.) In case you haven't noticed, Barrett hasn't been that "good" on offense this season.

 

2.) Bowen is said to have great defense.

 

3.) He was leaving this year anyway so the Cubs actually made money off this.

While I'll agree that I'm glad he's gone, you can't trade a player with his offensive ability just for the sake of it. Not on this team, anyway. We're not good enough offensively to do that.
