I understand that you don't give up a lot for middle relievers, but Linebrink is the best. His 3-year splits are ridiculously good. Is Epatt really that much to give up?

I'd rather trade Theriot or Fontenot than EPatt. I hope this is the precursor to a bigger deal. I can't imagine Eyre or Howry will be here much longer.

Barrett is not a catcher for a winning team.

He can hit.... not much else

We have offense. We have a very mixed bag pitching staff. Some youth, some vets, some hot heads, alot of inconsistency.

I will take a catcher who hits .220 and calls a good game and doesn't give back runs with his arm or glove over someone like barrett

Addition by subtraction here

Now Floyd....

Can't throw Patterson in on this. But I like getting Linebrink. Couldn't we have paid them to take Eyre?

Your sig and the last line make all the rest of those possible valid points easily questioned by rational viewers.

Linebrink is a good reliever, but EPatt should have been used as part of a better package. Our offense is also now weaker than it was 24 hours ago.

This is why I don't trust Hendry to deal anyone, ever. He's the king of trading low.

If the new Cubs catcher - whoever that may be - hits .220, the Cubs probably aren't winning anything....unless that .220 comes with a lot of walks and good power.

Barret wasn't going to be traded without all the drama. There was choice but to trade low, because trading him wasn't an option previously.

Yeah, I should change that! I was 2/3rds right, eh?

Is it confirmed we traded EPatt or just a strong rumor?

If it's Barrett and EPatt for Linebrink and that other schumck, Cub fans should storm Tribune Tower with pitchforks and torches. Hendry is a flippin' moron if he pulled the trigger on that deal.

Yes, Barrett wasn't that great defensively, but is there some sort of formula to determine how many runs he gave up over average weighed against how many runs he created over (or below) average?

He was our best defensive catcher, and we're going to be hurting there for quite a while. If we got Linebrink that's great as we needed another bullpen arm or four, but I've never been a fan of creating one hole to fill another.
