Even though the Cubs lose, this might be the day that things really unwrap for the Brewers. We can still come within 4 games tomorrow now.

WOW, the Cubs are still 4 games back in the loss column! Cordero imploded in the bottom of the 9th after they gave him 2 insurance runs. LOL, the Brewers are reeling.

Bottom of the 9th, up 3 - 0, 2 outs, nobody on Francisco Cordero on the mound.... that stings.

Are you sure it's not five? I think it was 5 before the game and it should be 5 now still. .

5 in the standings and 4 in the loss column. I always point out the loss column because it's more accurate than the standings (half games can be won and lost on off days). Both teams will play 162 games but the Brewers have played two more games than the Cubs to this point.

That's a difference of 4 games with two yet to be played for the Cubs.

I see. The Cubs would still have to win those 2 games, which I doubt.

I'd just like to point out that Jacque Jones and Cesar Izturis are putting up lines of .236/.300/.330/.630 and .245/.306/.299/.605 respectively for the season, but for some reason still get playing time. I would love to hear an explanation for this.

They should both be traded or DFA'd right now. I don't even care if we get anything for them, because we won't if we wait till the deadline anyway. There is no reason for them to be hurting us. DeRosa/Theriot should be the everyday middle infield, Fontenot can play 2nd for now until Ramirez comes back, and Murton/Floyd should platoon in RF or Murton should play in RF everyday. Just please, enough Jones and Izturis.

Well, I'm a bit disappointed as my run of starts is over. Oh well

Did Marquis pitch as bad as his line looks? How did Gallagher look?

EDIT: I went back and looked and saw that the Cubs win on 6/6 was the first win for a game thread I started. My record now sits at 3-2 on the year and 3-4 overall. I have to say, it was good to get off the schnide.

Yes.

Pitching to Andruw Jones was something he never should have done.

The interesting thing is Andruw was not getting good swings every time against Marquis. Several balls that he fouled off he just barely got a piece of. When he put it fair though, they were rockets.

Marquis just struggled finding the zone last night. Combine that with 1 hitter who just torches him, and an error by Marquis, and it led to disaster.

I think you could say he pitched worse than his line. 1 2/3 (does anybody else hate the 1.1 and 1.2 distinctions? If you want decimels, write 1.3 and 1.7) and 2 ER saves his ERA quite a bit.

Oh definitely, the 2 ER is not indicative at all of how badly he pitched. If they had left him in longer, he could have given up the 12 or 13 like he did last year in an outing or two.
