What kind of stuff does Gallagher have? Power pitcher or finesse?

Low 90s FB, good curve, change and he has a slider though I believe Sean has scrapped that for now.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Lou like his younger arms to put some time in the bullpen before being thrown onto the mound to start a game?

Congrats on the move, peoriachiefs39! I get the feeling that Jim and Lou want to energize this ballclub with hopes of creating some momentum, i.e., some new perspective in the roster, and see the best way to do that is to inject a little youth into the 25-man roster.

FWIW, Jacque Jones isn't in the lineup today.

I hope he got traded, but Soriano-Pie-Floyd is certainly a reasonable lineup against a RHP. If Murton were out there instead of Floyd/Jones then I'd know something was up.

The game I watched in Daytona last season he was hitting 96 consistantly, with a nasty slider, and a plus change. He has very good mechanics as well, but low 90's on the fastball does not seem quite right.........

Oh I agree. Also, Floyd was hampered by an injury and missed some time.

But one can hope no?

I wonder if he's just being called up for a short time now to give him a taste of life in the show. Marshall, Hill, Guzman, and Marmol all struggled in their first callups (Hill during his second as well), but have pitched much better after going back down for some more seasoning. Maybe the plan is for him to be up for a couple weeks while someone else goes on the DL so that when he comes back up for good he'll already have some major league experience under his belt. Just a thought.

I've generally heard 90-94 this season - it sounds like he was throwing a smidge harder last season. But, I've also noticed a few of the SL radar guns are a tad slow.

I have also thought of that possibility. I was gonna mention that perhaps that Sean was just being called up just to get the feel of how MLB is, and use that experience while he goes back to Iowa, and whatever Sean needs to work on, he'll do that when he goes back to Iowa, whenever someone comes off the DL.

I haven't been this confused since the Nomar trade.

You forget the "BIG MOVES ARE COMING BY MONDAY" thing a few weeks ago a.k.a. Guzman-to-the-pen-for-Dempster-but-wait-Dempster-will-train-Guzman-first-and-Marshall-will-start-instead.

Has anyone considered the idea that Blanco might be on the 60 day DL now?

Good call too, they were saying he might have to have surgery or rehab.

The curve was good in the start I saw him, but he struggled with his control with it. I don't recall seeing a slider. His fastball worked in the 91-93 range, touching 94 a couple of times.

If he's coming out of the pen, he might be able to dial it up a tick or two.

I think Miller to the 60-day is more likely.

how about Miller to the "never-ever-ever-pitch-for-the-cubs-again" list

Pie seems to have benefitted from that approach as well.

Yea but I think hes suggesting that as to how Gallagher is getting on the 25 man.
