Man I really hope there is nothing wrong with Marshall. Hes pitched awfully good. But since Seans father is going to ATL, you have to think it has to do with one of those starters. Well it cant be Lilly cause hes pitching tonight, or Z, cause hes going tomorrow. So that leaves Marshall or Marquis?

The way Sean's dad said the family would be going to Atlanta seems to cancel out Gallagher replacing Z for a start - what's the point of going to Atlanta to see your son between starts?

maybe he's not starting.

oh wait lilly is pitching tonight... well then yeah i suppose it could be zambrano. maybe the cubs decided to suspend him for a start because of the barrett incident?

that's officially my guess.

me too... i forgot that it was lilly and not Z tonight. Him pitching in Zambrano's spot makes a lot of sense; makes one start and then goes back down.

That still doesn't make sense, because tomorrow he'd still be pitching in Milwaukee, yet his father is going to Atlanta.

but his father isn't the one pitching. he said sean was going to milwaukee. though you'd think they would have told sean if he was starting tomorrow.

True, his father isn't the one pitching, but I can't see him missing his son's first major league appearance. Maybe meeting the team in Milwaukee tomorrow is just to get him acclimated and that he'll then travel with the team to Atlanta.

This move seems so random.

If his dad is still reading this... congrats! What an awesome feeling for you!

That's my thinking.

Hello again and in talking with Sean it seems as though the Cubs will use him in the bullpen. That about all I got out of him he was just so excited and trying to make lots of phone calls. To everybody of NSBB thanks for all your "Congrats" and "kind words" and will make sure Sean reads this...

Still no actual news confirmation of this?

Meaning that Sean getting promoted?

Raisin's confirmation of peoriachiefs39 is Sean's Dad is good enough for me.

i'm happy for sean, as i've met him and he's a really nice guy, but it seems kinda weird for him to go to the pen. though i'm sure he's not complaining.

Hmm... The cubs using him in the pen would only mean 3 things, in my view.

1. Ohman demoted,

2. Eyre DFA'ed, or

3. Jones and a pitcher to be traded.

No I certainly believe that part, I'm just hoping for some news blurb to shed at least some light as to whats going on.

Can't see the Cubs bringing up a righty for Ohman since he's the designated LOOGY (especially when Rapada is on the 40-man and is pitching well at Iowa).

Ah, gotcha. I didn't know which one you were referring to, the promotion, or the news blurb.

I wish him the best of luck, and am excited to see him pitch, but to me this is a short-sighted move. His future is as a starter, and he's never pitched out o f the pen. Plus his peripherals were good but not great so far this year. I'd have much preferred that he be sent to Iowa to start... this is no criticism of Sean or his abilities, but what I think would be best for his future as a Cub.

Yeah, but Ohman, at least in my view, haven't pitched well, even though he is being used incorrectly.

Still, just looking through all the possibilities.

Pretty similar to what they did with Hill, he got promoted to the bullpen from AA.

I agree with you that he should definitely be given a chance as a starter.

I'm just freaking thrilled one of my favorite minor leagues got called up, I love seeing MLB debuts.
