Well, okay, forget it now.

No, lets not forget it. He wasn't pitching fantastic. They had at least one base runner each inning. That isn't fantastic. Take off the Rich Hill blinders. He pitched like poop today.

Please tell me you were actually watching the game, and not following on gameday. He has thrown ONE bad pitch. ONE.

And I hat to be the first to point this out to you, but allowing one baserunner per inning is excellent.

Yeah, that would be a 1.00 WHIP.

Yes I am watching. So on the two homers he threw one bad pitch. LMAO. He has had guys on base the whole game. That isn't fantastic.

What part of this do you not understand. Burrell hit a PITCHERS PITCH. A low fastball out of the zone. Does this confuse you?

Right, ok well he fantastically pitched us out of a chance to win this game. Bravo Rich. I bet if you asked him if he was fantastic tonight he would laugh at you.

Allowing 5 runs in 6 innings, however, is not.

Are you freakin' kidding me?!? Pagan swings at the first pitch with after DeRosa walks and the pitcher on deck?
He just missed a homer.

So, that still registers as an out. A base hit or walk would have been preferable there.

What an interesting way to watch baseball...

Meaning?

That kind of simplification can be had from watching ESPN's Gameday play-by-play. Baseball is a sport, not just of results, but of efforts, degrees, and subjective levels of failure and success. It's the same reason a pitcher's win column fails to tell the whole story - you need to see more than the numbers (or at least the right numbers) to know what happened. I dodn't mean anything personally, just that seeming to only care that Pagan's hit has an out made it sound like that's all that mattered.

To be fair, a guy who issued three walks threw more than one bad pitch.

By bad pitch, I mean one that can be driven for extra bases.

I love the double switch, because Izturis batting in the pitchers spot is pretty much just as bad as hitting the pitcher.

ANd just as I type this he gets a lame hit. Thanks for backing me up, Cesar.

Your idea of a bad pitch is bizarre.

so you don't think that if a pitcher throws enough pitches out of the zone for a hitter to walk, or that if a pitcher actually hits a batter that those are bad pitches?

what if chase utley is hit, or walked regularly say, then the pitcher leaves a hanging breaking pitch to someone else, for the sake of conversation i'll go with pat burrell. you don't think the 'pitches' thrown to utley were mistakes?

Well the walks hurt as much as the homers tonight, I'm afraid.

Your argument keeps changing. Now its earned runs.

First of all, I said fantastic when it was 3-2. I still maintain that he threw one bad pitch.

But I give up. I guess The results are always a perfect reflection of performance in baseball.

Yes, walking people is not good. Almost every pitcher does it in every game, though. I expect a walk or two.
