Well, okay, forget it now.

No, lets not forget it. He wasn't pitching fantastic. They had at least one base runner each inning. That isn't fantastic. Take off the Rich Hill blinders. He pitched like poop today.

Please tell me you were actually watching the game, and not following on gameday. He has thrown ONE bad pitch. ONE.

Yes I am watching. So on the two homers he threw one bad pitch. LMAO. He has had guys on base the whole game. That isn't fantastic.

What part of this do you not understand. Burrell hit a PITCHERS PITCH. A low fastball out of the zone. Does this confuse you?

5 ER in 5 innings, fantastic.

Your argument keeps changing. Now its earned runs.

First of all, I said fantastic when it was 3-2. I still maintain that he threw one bad pitch.

But I give up. I guess The results are always a perfect reflection of performance in baseball.

If that was fantastic I hope Hamels starts pitching fantastic. He didn't even give us a quality start. But, hey I rescind my comment he was stellar tonight.

Are you freakin' kidding me?!? Pagan swings at the first pitch with after DeRosa walks and the pitcher on deck?
He just missed a homer.

So, that still registers as an out. A base hit or walk would have been preferable there.

What an interesting way to watch baseball...

Meaning?

That kind of simplification can be had from watching ESPN's Gameday play-by-play. Baseball is a sport, not just of results, but of efforts, degrees, and subjective levels of failure and success. It's the same reason a pitcher's win column fails to tell the whole story - you need to see more than the numbers (or at least the right numbers) to know what happened. I dodn't mean anything personally, just that seeming to only care that Pagan's hit has an out made it sound like that's all that mattered.

I'm just a big believer in taking a pitch, especially in situations following a wlak and the pitcher is tiring. See if they can get themselves in more trouble. Baseball is hard enough why not see how much the other guy can help you out?

If Pagan were to have walked Hill probably gets pulled for a PH and Hamels is most likely out of the game as well.

But I understand a lot of people enjoy seeing long flyballs though.

now you're just avoiding the discussion.

do you or don't you believe that if a pitcher walks a hitter, that those were bad pitches?

because it would seem to me, that if a pitch allows a runner to reach base (any base, not just extra bases), excluding of course defensive mistakes - wide area that may cover, that that particular pitch did not accomplish the goal that the battery had intended it to, which would be to, at some point, end in an out.

edit: i had meant to say battery, but typed batter towards the end of this post

I agree, but it is funny seeing that coming from a guy with that sig.

Soriano? I know he's not the poster boy for patience, I wish that he had more. I like him as a player and I was fooling around in PS and made this sig. Thought it was cool so I kept it.

There are so few elements of a good team on teh Cubs this year.

Lee, Ramirez, Barrett (I guess), Hill.

Barrett? No. But you can add Marquis, Lilly, Theriot...
