This is unbelievable. Its not nice to go to the bathroom, come out, and see the Cubs down 4-0.

Barrett makes weak contact on a 3-1 count :? He's been very up and down, and pretty much down for a while now..

Anyone who doesn't believe that catchers can have a huge impact on how a pitcher performs is kidding themselves.

you're kidding yourself. Pitchers make the ultimate call on the pitches they throw. As such, they are responsible!

I never said that the pitcher wasn't ultimately responsible. Why do you think guys like Greg Maddux always liked to have a personal catcher?

None of Maddux's personal catchers are headed to the HoF

Barrett has been bad lately

Terrible.

I've never understood why Lou think he should hit 5th. Lou has a thing with going lefty right, I'd think he'd much rather have Floyd, Lee, Ramirez, Jones, Barrett than 3 righties in a row. And being a catcher, he has to sit once or twice a week anyway.

I'm not a stat freak like some of you are, but I bet if you go back over the past few seasons and look at ERA's when Blanco is catching vs when Barrett is catching, you will notice a marked difference.

There's absolutely no way in hell that Barrett is responsible for Z's inability to throw strikes. Unless the calls are coming from the dugout, Z can shake Barrett off anytime he wants. Regardless, it's the pitcher's job to throw the ball to a particular spot.

You can make the argument that Blanco might be better at keeping Zambrano's emotions in check for whatever reason, and if that's actually true, it could impact performance.

However, Barrett is not responsible for Zambrano's disastrous start to this season. Any pitcher who blames his catcher for the pitcher's poor performance is simply trying to shift blame away from himself.

if you read my post moonlight you would of seen my first suggestion was he's injured. I'm not saying he doesn't want to play well this year just that he may be done with this org and already decided he wants a new challenge. nice hit by the pitcher by the way.

Barrett catches far more games. That means he's going to be in there for far more badly pitched games than Blanco is. If he's in there catching guys like Glendon Rusch and Les Walrond, while Blanco gets to be Z's personal catcher, who do you think is going to have the better catcher ERA?

That must be it moonlight , i'm dumb know nothing about baseball just spen thousands of $$ travelling over to chicago each year to watch the cubs. I'm just looking for reasons as to Z's peformance cos you sure aren't going to tell me everything's normal.

He's been throwing out of a different arm slot than last year. He corrected it last game and did well and now he's back in that lower slot this game.
