You know not that this makes it a bad trade, but don't forget that the Bears had to give up their own 2nd round pick in the TJ trade. SD gave us the pick ahead of our original pick (from 63rd to 62nd) as well as a third and fifth rounder.

 

So the trade goes:

 

Bears trade:

Thomas Jones

 

Bears receive:

96th pick

167th pick

3rd round pick next year

 

Since the 62nd and 63rd picks essentially cancel each other out.

 

Still a steal for TJ though

 

Yep, I was thinking that. Two 3rd rounders for TJ is just fine, like you said. Throw in a 5th rounder, and it's a sweet deal for a guy we couldn't find any takers for a year ago.

Falcons grab up Blalock. He doesn't seem to fit their ZBS.

 

Ever since Bobby Petrino was hired the Falcons have scrapped using it. Petrino said he wanted larger guards and Blalock fits that mold.

 

They've still got Vick who likes to scramble alot though. Blalock is a mauler and will help out up the middle, but Satele seems like he would have been a better IMO.

i liked beck and would've been happy if the eagles picked him... but again, with the offense that we've built over the past ten years, I'll give Reid a chance. Lord knows he would've taken Beck if he really liked him.

Agree. Jarrett is my first choice, Rice is my second. I'd also take Smith, but I'd probably take an OL or LB before I took Steve Smith.

Gotta take that one on faith I guess. I have a hard time believing Kolb was the best QB in the draft for the early 2nd round. Maybe he'll prove me wrong.
