31. Chicago Bears

The pick: Greg Olsen, TE, Miami

Scouts take: The best available tight end is if off the board and the Bears filled one of their more important needs, but be weary of calling this is a great pick. Chicago should be excited about Olsen's ability to stretch the field and give their young quarterback a legitimate threat over the middle. Though he should also take advantage of the Bears' commitment to the run setting up the play-action, Olsen is a mediocre blocker at best. If he is to play an every-down role, he'll have to get a lot stronger at the point of attack and a lot tougher. Until he does, he should strictly be a situational receiving tight end.

To Tampa Bay:

dont take jarrett dont take jarrett dont take jarrett dont take jarrett

Hehe, if you're referring to the Bears I don't think we'll be taking him @ 37. Unless I really have no clue (always possible), I think Angelo switches back to defense here.

I'm thinking he'll take Blalock there.

How about Ugoh, if we wanted to stay on the O-side?

I still think we're going to need help @ LB & DT, though it obviously doesn't have to happen right now.

Well most pass-catching TEs who struggle blocking are in for pass catching. So what? We'll still have at least one great blocking TE on the roster in Clark. The negatives on Olsen are simply another way of saying he doesn't do everything. No different than saying Santana Moss isn't all that powerful a blocker---big deal, that won't ever be his role.

Heinstend will square him away. He'll be a fine blocker.

ESPN keeps wanting the Bears to take a QB.

They can't handle that their 'qb carousel' graphic is on ice. They'll do anything to keep the Bears from having a steady QB, so they can show the graphic every game.
