So much for believing his shoulder should not be considered an issue. Im glad the Cubs stayed away from this guy. Even though at one point I liked the idea of having him in the Cubs rotation, I still did not like giving him a big deal due to the fact his shoulder was a huge issue with me.

The exam was clean in most respects. There is no structural damage to the shoulder and Schmidt's elbow is fine. This is a new injury for Schmidt, who has been on the disabled list several times with ailments ranging from a labrum tear in 2000 to groin injuries in recent years.

He's too fragile. The Cubs have enough pitchers with injury histories.

Ted Lilly signing looks a lot better now.

Yeah, considering the amount of holes the Cubs had to fill (if they wanted to remove Prior and Wood from the equation completely) signing Schmidt with his injury concerns and for that kind of money looked foolish when a consistently healthy Lilly was costing only 10 million per season.

Did I just write "only 10 million per season"? Something is very, very wrong here...

Thank You Jim Hendry for not being totally stupid and signing Schmidt.

Even though I wanted you to.
