Cashman looking like a genius right now. Seemed like the entire city of NY wanted ARod gone after last year. IIRC, it was Cashman who came out and said they wouldn't necessarily be unloading him.

He didn't trade one of the top 5 players in baseball for cents on the dollar. Truly a god amongst men.

What, so a GM ignored his overreactive, idiotic fanbase, an out of control, myopic media and held on to the best player in the AL and therefore is a genius?

Two more tonight, 12 on the season in game #16.

He's got an outside shot at Sosa's record of 20 in a month.

yeah man, this is just insane.

20 in April would be FAR more impressive than Sosa's 20 in June(?). Much colder weather, and don't they usually have more days off at the beginning of the season?

of course when they really needed a homerun in the 9th he lines out

some things never change

BOOOOOOOOOO

sure, a-rod will hit a game winning homerun against the orioles' and the indians' of the world. but in fenway, against the red sox, when it really counts, he's a gutless choking dog

If Arod could challenge Bonds record of 73*, it would be a great thing for baseball.

Hmm...if he gets traded to the Cubs in the middle of the season, they wouldn't give him the record since it was in 2 different leagues, right?

Yeah I gotta root for whatever gets him to the Cubs...:P

I think they would. League records and leaders are based on statistics while playing in that league, but I think major league records include performance in both leagues.

That being said, I think it will be a moot point because I don't think the Yankees will trade him during the season.

And you're being generous calling that hit a "line out." It was a weakly hit flare the second baseman could have caught in his mouth. Gutless choking dog is right.

League Leaders 2007

• Ranks 2nd in AL in BA (.389) • Ranks 1st in AL in HR (13)

• Ranks 1st in AL in RBI (32) • Ranks 1st in AL in R (24)

• Ranks 7th in AL in OBP (.446) • Ranks 1st in AL in SLG (1.028)

• Ranks 1st in AL in OPS (1.474)

And this was BEFORE his 4/5 2 homers, 3 RBI, 4 Runs tonight!!!! They seriously need to stop pitching to him. This is getting into 2001 Bonds territory, no matter who is batting behind him.
