I think I might still have the sweeper, but wouldn't someone need to photoshop Lou in the place of Dusty?

That was Dusty? I remember a random black dude but he didn't look a thing like Dusty.

Plenty of runs is something we'll definitely need. Hopefully we didn't use them up while the good pitchers were going.

It was Dusty. That's why I deleted it. It was part of the house cleaning.

Here's hoping we can get this one, because I think we'll have a great edge against Houston. They've gone from the Grapefruit league to Houston, and have yet to experience even cool weather. 7-2 sounds nice.

It's go time!

Oh yeah. Screw my crude thing, we're sticking with that one.

Let's get the sweep...

Picked this off another forum and I can't stop laughing!

Cubs fans unite, Wrigley Field North is great!

I can't speak for the whole park, but our section was probably 70% cub fans. We were surrounded on three sides (yay for sitting on the aisle). The guy in front of me had a jacket whose Cub emblem (on the back, of course, so it stared me in the face all game) had to have been one foot in diameter.

Tonight I don't even like looking at the letter C.

Go Cubs!

Just read on another website that if the Cubs sweep today, it'll be their first sweep since 2003 against the Brewers.

Game Notes.

With a win today, the Cubs would complete their first 3-game sweep of the Brewers since September 5-7, 2003, also here at Miller Park...a win today would give the Cubs a 5-game winning streak vs. the Brewers for the first time since August 18-25, 2004, also a 5-game run.

Including Carlos Zambrano’s quality start yesterday, each of the last 4 Cubs starters have posted a quality start…in 2006, it took the Cubs until their 10th game of the season before notching their 4th quality start by a pitcher.

3 Cubs starters have navigated their first time through the batting order without allowing a hit…Zambrano was perfect through 3.0 innings yesterday before allowing a solo homer to lead off the 4th inning; on Friday, Rich Hill was perfect through 5.0 innings before allowing a solo homer to lead off the 6th inning; and on Wednesday in Cincinnati, Ted Lilly had a no-hitter through 4.0 innings before allowing a single to lead off the 5th.

Overall in 2007, Cubs starters boast a 3.09 ERA (11 ER/32.0 IP) and a .173 batting average against (19-for-110).

More from the game notes.

Wade Miller this afternoon makes his 2007 debut in a ballpark not named after him, though could be based on his career performance here.

In 7 career starts here, Wade is a perfect 6-0 with a 1.08 ERA (6 ER/50.0 IP), limiting the Brewers to a .188 batting average (33-for-176)…he has struck out 48 and walked only 13 in his 50.0 innings pitched here.

Miller has pitched at least 6.0 inning and allowed 2 runs or less in all 7 of his starts at Miller Park…additionally, he has pitched at least 7.0 innings 3 times here without allowing a run.

Wade today makes his first start in Milwaukee in nearly 3 years to the day…on April 9, 2004, Miller collected a 13-7 win with Houston after limiting the Brewers to 2 runs in 6.0 innings of work.

Ryan Dempster yesterday collected his 2nd save of the season and the 61at of his career and as a Cub, surpassing Phil Regan for 4th on the club’s all-time saves list.

The Cubs and Brewers will play 15 times this season, with 12 of those meetings taking place before the All-Star Break…after these 3 games, the Cubs return to Milwaukee for 3 from June 4-6, the club’s final 3 games in Wisconsin in 2007…the Brewers make 3 trips to Wrigley Field: April 23-25, June 29-July 1 and August 28-30.

2007 Overall: ............................................2-0

At Wrigley Field: ....................................0-0

At Miller Park: ........................................2-0

2006 Overall: ............................................8-8

At Wrigley Field: ....................................4-5

At Miller Park: ........................................4-3

All-Time Since 1997: .............................72-69

At Wrigley Field: .................................36-34

At Miller Park (since 2001): .................29-24

And a few more notes....

21 years ago today, Lou Piniella managed his first major league game, guiding the New York Yankees to a 4-2 win against the Kansas City Royals on April 8, 1986 at Yankee Stadium…Yankees catcher Butch Wynegar helped make a winner of Lou, slugging a 3-run homer, while Ron Guidry made the start and pitched 5.0 innings to earn the victory.

In the 21 years, Lou has posted a won-loss record exactly 100 games above .500, turning in a 1,522-1,422 (.517) record in 2,944 big league games.

Has given up 2 or fewer earned runs in 72 of his starts and 3 or fewer earned runs in 101 of his big league starts.

Was named National League Pitcher of the Month in April 2002.

They're not saying Boo, they're saying LOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!

Lets get a sweep on the road, and come home 4-2 to a crowd so warming tomorrow it'll feel like a hot day in July.

Ok, that's a bit overboard.

Now they are saying 45 tomorrow. Anything above 40 is fine by me...

That's better than last year's opening day. I think with the wind it was nibbling the upper 20's. 45 is gonna feel like summer.

Impressive starting pitching stats.

Without Z's Opening Day clunker, the numbers would really be outstanding. Hopefully, Miller continues the trend.
