At what point do we view Mark as damaged goods? I know that people who have alleged as much around here have been met with much criticism, but at what point do you just figure he is chronically hurt and will never be reliable (whatever the cause)?

Time to dump these guys.. It's never ending drama with Prior and Wood. Completely get rid of them and move on.

Sorry, this is a mean thing to say, but this is mildly humerous

I would agree is the Cubs didn't have Marquis and Miller in the rotation.

What's the point of releasing Prior? He's under contract and the Cubs probably can't get anyone for him until he shows he can pitch.

I'm putting him out of my thoughts until he starts pitching in games either in the minors or majors.

And in other news...

New studies have shown that Humans still need oxygen in order to survive.

nice...

i was thinking the same thing as Stoney about Angel Guzman...he looked really good the other day to save the bullpen and keep the Cubs within striking distance and he didn't have a bad spring...that curve was lookin nasty and he had a lot of life on the fastball...why not give him a shot...what's the worse that happens he gives up 6 runs in 4plus innings to milwaukee

The Cubs should just demote Prior to single-A Peoria and make him pitch out of the bullpen.

Paul Sullivan is using The Score as his source...

WSCR-AM 670 was reporting Thursday that Prior left with soreness in his side. He was disabled last summer with a strained oblique muscle.

Cubs general manager Jim Hendry confirmed Prior was removed from the game against minor league hitters, but declined to comment on the injury without having all the details.

On another note, this proves a point I tried to make a few weeks ago; the Chicago baseball writers are swayed by what is said on local sports talk radio.

Wittenmyer in the Suntimes wrote today about talk radio comments (about Lou). Why are these guys getting news from the radio when they are team beat writers????!!!!

This is just ridiculous at this point. Mark Prior and Kerry Wood had to have been kidnapped with these two "guys" left in their place. They are hanging out right now with the Black Michael Jackson. If only we could find them all.

I just had Deja Vu when I read that!

It is just as true as the idea some have about Mark not being mean enough. Those two guys have set the franchise back about 10 years. Sad but, true.

Actually, I think Dusty set the organization back more than anyone. Not only did he help ruin Prior and Wood, he also destroyed Corey Patterson and others

I refuse to overreact until more info is available.

All the info I need is to look back the past couple of years.

And that tells you whether this injury is serious?

And that tells me Prior's chances of becoming an effective starter again are close to nil.

It would put us Cubs fans out of their misery, and we could finally get on with our lives.

Just wondering...If we knew Prior was going to pud out so quickly, would Hendry have come into the season with a better fifth option than Wade Miller?

He already did, Angel Guzman.
