Well, I see we've crossed over into "just make up controversies where none exist" territory.

Wonderful.

The guy had 72 hours to report, and he reported on time.

Done. End.

Interestingly, my boss routinely gives us two days off on the weekends. It's like 63 hours away from the office and I usually don't show up during that time because there wouldn't be anything for me to do.

Surprisingly, I haven't been fired.

Tribune:

Prior continues to work out at extended spring training in Mesa, Ariz. Henry said Prior is not scheduled to see any doctors. The Cubs haven't said when he'll be able to pitch at Iowa, but his DL time could be extended if he's not ready in one week.

"If he needs another seven [days], we'll give him another seven," Hendry said. "Until he's ready to go five or six [innings]."

When he spoke to reporters in Mesa on Thursday, Prior said he was healthy and ready to go.

"Just show up and play, and that's what I'll do," he said.

But Prior took the entire 72 hours available to him before reporting to the Cubs' minor-league camp.

----You'd think such a valued 'employee' would take his job more seriously, eh?

you've got to be kidding me.

I love how athletes are held to standards that most people themselves wouldn't hold to. If I had 72 hours to get somewhere I'm pretty sure I'd take 72 hours to get there. This is a non issue.

It depends how much you love what you're doing. I love my job, so I'm at work early and stay late. The 72 hours stuff is probably a non-issue, but if you're being watched and judged wouldn't you want to make an impression?

There could be several factors involved here that we're not aware of through the article. Witht hat being said, I'm not going to get all over him, especially if he was offered the transition time. After all, these guys are people that have lives away from baseball.

Not acceptable.

You've got to be kidding me.

jinx. i swear i didn't see this post before i made mine.

nice answer, even though we were responding to 2 different posts--same idea.

In other news, I arrived this morning at 8 AM, as scheduled. I also arrived back from lunch at 1 PM, as scheduled. Luckily, I appear to still have a job despite not showing up early to make a good impression...
