the bottom two are pay articles.

Since 1995 the cubs are fifth.

they then did it splitting up hitters and pitchers. the cubs ranked 27th in developing hitters, and first in developing pitchers. its not even close on the pitching side, theyre way ahead of second place oakland.

Did I read right? The Dodgers are last?

I was actually well aware the Jays were #1. IIRC, they don't have a lot of star players developed though.

I guess they are counting Piazza, Mondesi, etc. as pre-1995

Don't forget about our favorite! Todd Hollandsworth was part of that trio of rookie of the years i believe.

Edit: It was 1996 with Nomo being 1995 and Mondesi being 1994

I believe it said the Brewers where last and the Dodgers were just before them. Pretty low regardless.

For 27th and 1st to average out to fifth, you know that 1st has to be pretty darned strong.

I only count Izturis as a true star. I mean who else on that list can knock in runs with his glove.

Actually, didn't realize Michael Young was a Jays product. Carp, Halladay and Wells were the only stars I could think of.

Wilken has a nice track record, but I still don't know what he was thing regarding Colvin.

You'll know after this season.

Agreed. I think Colvin is going to have a good year and will only get better...

Might want to check the minor league forum. Apparently Colvin's looking pretty darn good in CF and might skip Peoria altogether.

I don't think I saw Colvin not swing at the first pitch once this spring...

He probably shouldn't be skipping levels.

I can recall Wood, Prior, Jeremi Gonzalez, Kyle Farnsworth, Terry Adams, Carlos Zambrano, Rich Hill, Jon Garland, and Dontrelle Willis as all being Cubs products that have been pretty solid contributors at one time or another. Am I forgetting anyone? That's a pretty damn good list.

Eric Karros also won ROY.

Yup, 5 straight from 1992 on (Karros, Piazza, Mondesi, Nomo, Hollandsworth).

didn't the cubs produce Hinske as well?

Yeah. He and CPatt are the crown jewels of our homegrown position players.

They traded Hinske to Oakland in 2002 for Miguel Cairo and the right to keep Rule 5 draftee Scott Chiasson and send him down.
