Just saw on ESPN bottom line that the Titans made their first huge acquisition, LB Ryan Fowler for 4 years.

Vance or any other Cowboy fan, know anything about this kid? All I know is he's 24 and out of Duke.

EDIT: Then I see on NFL Network's website that the Eagles offered him an offer sheet. I'm confused.

Aha, apparently he was about to sign an offer sheet with the Eagles, then I guess the Titans deemed him so valuable we didn't want to let him go :? and jumped in to grab him. And, we're apparently going to pay him $4 MIL A YEAR. This guy better be good.

He's a special teams stud, but is one dimensional as a player. He's good against the run, but he can't cover, and he can't rush the passer either. He's a good backup ILB/special teamer, but that's about it.

Eh, sounds ok. No idea why we're going to pay him $4 mil and didn't have interest in similar dollar amounts for Stallworth, Bennett and Travis Henry, though.

It could be possible that the Colts biggest free agent move of the entire offseason is signing Rob Morris-that's almost comical to think that's the biggest.

That's pretty much it. Fowler is a beast on special teams. We're going to miss him there. He's only useful on rushing downs. He's horrible on passing downs.

His special teams performance may be missed somewhat, but I think that a rookie could easily step up in his place. With Phillips' as the head coach, there will be an emphasis put on getting to the QB and that's just something that Fowler couldn't do. I wouldn't mind picking up another pass-rushing OLB in the draft this year (maybe someone like Robison or Bazuin) and moving Carpenter inside. I wasn't overly impressed by James this year and I think Carpenter can take his spot next to Ayodele. We can always pick up someone like Ameer Ismail or Martin Jackson either late in the draft or as a UDFA to take Fowler's spot.

I guess this is where we disagree. I thought Carpenter was a little better when he was moved outside. He didn't play inside all that well in my mind. I think James is fine. He's not a pro-bowler, but he does a decent job for what he was asked to do in that scheme. I think Phillips's attacking style will help the entire defense next season.

The second person to leave the Colts-Nick Harper. He signed a 3 year deal with the Titans, financial details were not revealed:

Harper was a good corner for the Colts, but the Colts have so many young corners ready to get playing time (Jackson/Hayden/Jennings could all fill Harper's spot and were high draft picks ready to play) that they just couldn't justify paying him. It will be interesting to see if he can play man coverage in TN now though.

Oh, don't worry. You guys aren't the only team not to do anything in FA :x

Flames it seems like more than a few teams are just abstaining from FA completely, and for good reason. The market has gone out of control Its sometimes better to just consolidate what you have and wait for the draft. Its not worth it to overpay very mediocre players just because you feel like you have to do something in FA.

Some teams have pretty much stuck to the philosophy of maybe one big sign an off-season and then just resigning what talent they have and then signing their draftees. Teams that spend a ton in free agency...don't seem to have a higher winning percentage at all.

Its frustrating, but blame people like Dan Snyder for it.

I'll agree with that. But the deals that I'm pissed off about are the ones like the McMichael deal and the Griffith deal. Both relatively cheap and both guys that easily could help improve our offense. We showed interest in both, even having Griffith over to Green Bay for a visit, but didn't even offer him a contract.

We did make our first signing of the offseason today in Frank Walker, a third string CB that was on the Giants. Don't really know too much about him, but a few Giants fans said that he's a good ST player. But, he does get burned a lot when he's in coverage and commits a lot of stupid penalties. Sounds like an older Ahmad Carroll...

The Moss rumors to Green Bay are back on as Thompson met with the Packers Board of Directors today to discuss the Moss deal. We're still the frontrunners for him and I don't think that's going to change. A deal probably wouldn't happen until around draft day because Davis is going to try to do his best to raise Moss' value as much as possible.

Well now that McMichael is gone, the Pack better sign Jerramy Stevens. The only reason why I want Stevens is because he seriously can't be worse than Bubba Franks/Donald Lee.

If we do sign Stevens, I'll go out on a limb and say that our TE combo will lead the league in drops.

Since Stevens was just arrested in Arizona for DUI and possession of marijuana, do you still want him?

Nope. If he's getting busted when he's a Free Agent, what does that say about his character?

Nothing that hasn't already been known for a while-Stevens is one of the dirtiest players in the league-I'm not surprised that this happened, and with his production he may not have a much longer stay in the league.

It's not so much that we haven't done much in free agency, that's fine with how crazy the market is. The major problem I have is that we released the guy that was most of our offense last year - Travis Henry - and only have LenDale White currently on the roster.

Then, we didn't even bother to pick up anybody to play alongside him, even considering that he's got serious durability issues.

Teams aren't abandoning FA, but let's face it, the draft provides much more value for the money.

It's football, so as a GM you need to decide whether you want to pay rookie money for a fresh body with tons of potential, or pay outrageous dollars for a worn-down body who is nearly sure to decline in production.

Rotoworld is reporting that the Packers are on the verge of acquiring Moss and Courtney Anderson for Aaron Rodgers, a 7th round pick this year, and a conditional pick based on how well Rodgers does in Oakland.

If that deal holds up, I will be VERY happy.

Very good deal for the Pack. It probably also means that they believe Favre will be back for at least 2 or 3 more seasons. You'd probably see them draft a QB to groom for the future if this trade actually happens.

Or the Packers trade for Matt Schaub and he goes on to be one of the best QBs in NFL history.

Drew Stanton in the second or third round? Seems to make sense to me.

I like it. Do it Al. Anything to rid this team of Randy Moss.
