Did anyone else think D. Manning played a good game? I thought it was one of his better ones as a Bear.

he seemed to be in position, alot better then before

What happened with the early wide open TD? I forget who was in coverage.

Chris Harris blew it.

Here is the inevitable Jay Mariotti Rex bashing article. Not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I figured he would essentially try to run Rex out of town and say that the Bears need to draft a QB in the upcoming draft (though he did say Griese should be given the opportunity to win the starting job next year).

I have no problem with a Grossman/Griese competition in camp next year. I can't imagine any Bear fans would.

Basically there should be competition at every position no matter what. Why not? Your stars should be able to win their jobs easily, and any marginal players need the motivation to get better.

Yup. So did Harris.

Disagree. Harris made the pick but then blew his assignment and let the Colts get an easy score.

Harris (I believe) was the safety who tried to jump the route of the receiver going short over the middle and Manning threw it long to Wayne. Manning may have been the corner on the play but I think the mistake was the safety's.

I think Grossman should get the upper hand, but there should be some level of competition for the job. I like how the coaching staff stuck with Rex this entire year. That was probably essential for his development. But now it's time for that development to turn into results.

Urlacher said that was a miscommunication that was his fault. Harris thought they were in a different coverage b/c of it.

I thought this was the answer to your question:

Screw it. Try and get Schaub from Hotlanta. He's gonna be bad to the bone if he gets a chance to start somewhere.

Fact is, we just didn't get the job done and the Colts did. I'm not going to crucify Grossman as the only reason we lost. He had a bad game. So did some other Bear players.

The coaches didn't do a particularly good job either.

We were just beaten, that's all. The Colts were better. Nothing else needs to be said really.

Agreed. The offensive gameplan in general was pretty bad. We didn't move the ball at all. And Grossman was something like 10-12 in the first quarter.

What was up with that?

are you serious..Matt Schaub? I have a good friend who is a huge Falcons fan, and hates the idea of Schuab starting...I didnt think he showed much promise...

And from everything I've heard, Schaub is the quarterback of the future in Atlanta once the Michael Vick experiment is over. I know Vick is a Falcon for next year, but after that, they might want to switch to a more traditional qb, rather than a running back with an arm.

Grossman is better than Griese but that isn't saying much. I think it's time for new players at the position via trade or draft.

Well then he should start over Vick then. If he cant start over Vick he shouldnt come in for Rex. Its not like Vick is light years better than Rex, if he is better than Rex. Vick doesnt appear to gotten any better and hes been in league for like 6 years. Rex's better games are better than Vicks better ones and he's only really played 1 year.

Interesting. Most Falcons fans i know, and there are quite a few down here, they'd rather have Schaub start than Vick. The last time Schaub started a game he threw 298yds, 3td's and had a 112.1 passer rating.

Posted this earlier, but this website said this about him:

http://www.footballsfuture.com/2007/nfl/freeagents.html

Matt Schaub, RFA, Atlanta Falcons

The free agent quarterback class is light in 2007, but teams in true need of a field general may be highly interested in Schaub. He has an NFL arm and has shown flashes of possibly being a legitimate quality starting quarterback. It is likely that just a handful of teams would aggressively pursue Schaub, but if someone is willing to pay decent money and forfeit a draft pick for Schaub, he could be lured away from his spot behind Michael Vick. In the end, Schaub’s chances of re-signing with the Falcons don’t look good, as Schaub will likely pursue a bigger role in another offense. A handful of teams could look for their starter in Atlanta.

That's not really a fair example given that Vick IS the Atlanta Falcons. Regardless of how bad he plays, they are not going to bench him.

Yes the i logic proposed had many holes in it. But if he is so good i dont see why they would let him go via trade or FA. They will give Vick one more shot next year, they are going to need a backup anyway and why not Schaub. It wont cost them much money compared to a vet backup QB. If a team really wants Schaub they are going to pay for draft picks. RFA do not change teams very often. It averages about 3-4 players a year changing teams.

Schaub reminds me of the backup QB hype awarded to AJ Feeley a couple years ago.

What the heck happened to Benson? Any word on his injury? Severity?

I read that he called it a mild sprain. I'm guessing it'll be a non-issue going forward.

Ced is scheduled for an MRI on Tuesday. Hopefully, its nothing more than a mild sprain.

Here's a bit of an odd question, but does anyone know who that white boy was that ran down Hester on his TD? That guy was FLYING.

He's the same guy who ran down Elis Hobbs in the AFCC game, I think. I do think Hester had started to coast a little bit there but that dude is fast.

I thought Hester started getting a good deal slower at about the 50.

They made it out like Hester was admiring himself in the jumbotron, but I thought it was clearly obvious he was watching to see if someone was going to run him down from behind...

Matt Giordano

Yeah, it was Giordano. He was the guy who ran Ellis Hobbs down last week, and he was the guy who put the big hit on to make the Bears miss that 4th down conversion with about 5 minutes left. The thing that I don't understand is that if Hester was not going full speed why did he allow himself to be tackled even at the goal line? If it were me, I'd rather run a little faster and avoid getting hit at all-regardless if Hester was going full speed though, Giordano was absolutely flying-look how fast he was going compared to the other Colts defenders. I didn't realize till the last two weeks that Giordano had that kind of speed in him-he should be good as the first backup safety next year if Doss is not re-signed.
