Wow, Dr.Z is really infuriating. He flat out said that if the Bears win he wont give them respect and it'll just be virtue of luck.

We can't even prove the guy wrong with a victory? Thats absurd.

I think he was being sarcastic, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was true. He basically said the Bears got lucky that the Saints decided to give them the game.

The Bears should be happy they scared the Saints into giving them 195 yards rushing.

Damn its cold out there. That homefield advantage thing is just unfair.

Yeah , I Guess, but he's still sorta implying he doesn't have to come up with any reasons why the Bears can win.

Lazy ass reporters. Can't they stop being sheep sometime?

For what it's worth, the Bears had the highest DVOA of any playoff team last weekend, by a good amount, and were the only team that was above average in all 3 phases of the game (Colts were below average special teams, Pats were below average offensively, Saints were below average defensively and in special teams).

The Bears did not win last week because of some fluke. They played really well, for about 45 minutes of the game.

EDIT: Also, keep in mind, for as "ineffective" as Grossman was, the Bears did have 7 scoring drives (yes, there were 4 offensive TDs and 3 FGs), although one of said drives went about 3 yards and resulted in a 43-yd FG.

The problem is every play can't be looked at objectively. A 15 yard TD run by Thomas Jones in the last 8 minutes of an 18 point ball game isn't worth the same as it would be in the first half, for example.

We were kinda "padding our stats" at that point.

DVOA doesn't look at every play the same. It's all situational. The defense was never "padding their stats", regardless. And offensively, despite getting short fields, they still punched it into the end zone half the time. And the Saints certainly hadn't given up until the score was already 39-14.

Is there anyone on the planet who thinks the Bears won by "fluke" over the Saints?

Such a person knows very little, if anything, about football.

A good amount of people think the Bears victory was a turnover-fueled fluke. They think the Saints just gave us the game with their mistakes.

If it was 1-2 fumbles/interceptions.. it'd be okay I guess... but if you lose the ball 5 times.. and only recover once.. It's not a fluke. The other team is just straight-out better than you.

They're gonna show Game of the week in a minute, on NFL network. Most likely the scoring drives and Sounds of the Game.. First Colts/NE, then Bears/Saints. 30 min each.

I've been watching video highlights from the Bears season every day this week (mainly Arizona game, Divisional game, and Conference Championship), and I can't wait until next Sunday.

I love how pumped up Thomas Jones was after every play against the Saints. I hope he comes out with that same fire next week, he really seemed to thrive off of it.

Bears Inspire A City Still Reeling From Great Chicago Fire Of 1871

CHICAGO—As Brian Urlacher triumphantly hoisted the George Halas Trophy Sunday, it was a symbol of more than just the Bears' 39-14 victory over New Orleans—it was a symbol of hope to the thousands of Chicagoans who are still struggling to resume normal lives after the fire that swept through a 2,000-acre swath of downtown, killed over 300 people, injured hundreds more, destroyed a third of Chicago's buildings, and left 100,000 residents homeless this past Oct. 8 through Oct. 10, 1871.. ..................................

There are plenty such people in south Louisiana and the Gulf Coast area. And it infuriates me every time I hear such nonsense in the media.

I'd hope there are many more options available should they win. I know I'd want a navy SB champs shirt in that situation.

JINX!

Of course, Peyton IS prominently on the cover of SI.

Plus, he posted these in the Saints thread and it didn't seem to hurt too much.

Well there is another SI that will come out before the Super Bowl is played. The question I have is, if the Bears are featured on the cover for next week, will neither team win? Will anarchy ensue? Maybe the world will end. Who knows.
