Some mocks have us taking Willis. I like him, and I don't like our LBs, so that sounds like a dang good fit to me.

What's up with Dan Morgan?

I'm going to merge this with the existing NFL Draft thread.

About a billion concussions, missed last season and may never play again. Damn shame too, he was really good.

Oh my god...this might be the worst mock draft I've ever seen by a "professional".

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=jm-mockdraft020807&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

Some notables:

No. 9 - Brady Quinn to Dolphins

No. 14 - Lawrence Timmons to Panthers (No way Timmons goes above Willis, who this guy doesn't even have on his first round.)

No. 16 - Adrian Peterson to Green Bay (Ya sure)

He doesn't have Michael Griffin from Texas in his first round either, which is somewhat of a surprise to me as well.

A bunch of mock's I've seen have Da Bears taking a TE in the first and then Rufus Alexander in the second (Yes plz). Honeslty, I probably even be fine if we took Alexander in the first if we're sure Briggs isn't coming back.

Doubt we go TE in round one.

Also, Joe Thomas won't fall past the 4th pick, Leon Hall probably won't get to 15, and Anthony Spencer of Purdue is a late 1st rounder at best.

A lot of people are now projecting that Quinn may snowball down to 9th, though.

Not quite sure if Rufus will be there in round 2 for us. I'll be pissed if we take a TE, we didn't lose the Superbowl because of poor TE play.

Yeah, I doubt it too. Before the workouts, though, we're all throwing darts.

Clark was one of the more productive TE's in the league last year. Doubt we'll pick a TE. Especially considering we didn't last year.

It makes sense if you think about it though. If he falls past 2 because of Adrian Peterson, a lot of the teams in the 3-9 ranges aren't looking to draft quarterbacks. Maybe Minnesota at 7, but from what I've heard, Cleveland won't be taking one, and neither will Tampa Bay. Arizona doesn't need one, and Washington isn't in the market for one apparently.

If AD fell to 16, I'd be ecstatic.

Ive seen Rufus or Beason go the Colts after the Bears pick. I go back and forth on TE. If the Bears resign R. Brown and get Steinbach they dont really need an OL in the 1st round. If the Bears only Franchise Briggs and cant get a long term deal done maybe they go LB. There seem to be some good OLB that will fit the Bears defense available in later 1st round of this draft.

Why would Minn draft a CB when they are solid there right now? I could see Quinn falling to them.

Exactly. When Clark wasn't doing anything and there were multiple late-first round TEs possible, the Bears ignored the position. Don't see them addressing it now with Clark coming off a good season.

Al lot of people have us taking Greg Olsen. As talented as that boy is, and boy is he talented, I don't see us picking him up.

I wouldn't be surprised if we take a WR someone in the middle of the draft. Anthony Gonzalez? Not a burner, not huge, but has great hands, runs great routes and overall is just a nice player. Everyone heaped praise on Ginn, but he probably was their best receiver.

Posted

If the Bears go WR, I'd prefer Anthony Gonzalez or Steve Smith.

But still, I want to see day one picks aimed at S, OL (even if they sign Steinbach), LB if Briggs is gone, RB if TJ is gone and maybe CB.

They should. Seems like Quinn would be a good fit for the offense too.

i thought campbell looked okay enough to get a shot next year.

I think he was talking about Tampa drafting Quinn, not Washington.

For reasons I can't understand. I've never been very impressed by Simms. Draft Quinn, let Simms mentor Brady next year and then start Quinn in 08.

As a Carolina fan, I'm totally in favor of Tampa continuing to play Simms and passing on Quinn in the draft this year.

Don't worry, even if Tampa does take Quinn I'm sure Troy Smith will be available with your pick. :D

It's not even so much that I want Quinn, although I do - I just definitely do not want a division rival to have him. :D
