There aren't just no reasons for Benson not to be getting most of the carries...there's actually NEGATIVE reasons as to why he's not getting most of the carries.

13 carries, 109 yards, 8.3 ypc

'Nuff said.

Jones, your service is appreciated, but it's time to dance and twirl your way over to the bench.

Honestly, I think the roles should be reversed. Benson should be getting 25+ carries a game and Jones should be getting 5-10. I think they'd be a solid 1-2 punch, with Benson being the 1.

I agree.

Oh no...please don't retire Brett.

This team can be a 10 win team next year if Brett stays...

His daughter is my age?

I need to find a way to date and eventually marry into this family.

Once she turns 18, she'll be the same age as me

Well I'm 18 also. All I heard was "graduates high school this year" and i got excited.

I cannot wait for the Chicago/National media gloss over the crap game Griese had (cheap TD aside, I'm sure they all focus on his rustiness) to focus on the trainwreck game Rex had.

Well Griese's QB rating was like 50 points higher :-)

Maynard's QB rating was 118.75 today. Play him.

What was Lovie's QB statement.

Our New Years' resolution is to stop sucking.

J/K I didn't hear it. 8-)

I was at the game, and I dunno if you guys could tell from t.v or not, but Lovie was correct. Rex was horrible, and Griese was only slightly better, but the O-Line did them no favors. Rex barely had a pocket to step into, and Tait was beaten badly several times, most noticeably on the play that led to Rex's second pick (he'd have been better off just eating the sack). Its tough to make good throws when large men are running unchecked at you.

I know. With Rex though, something like this might shake his confidence enough that even if he *does* have protection in the divisional playoff he still might be off.

I'm real worried. But oh well, time to take a chill pill. It's just a game. If we blow it, we blow it. I would just like to see a good gameplan this year that is tailored to our opponent, instead of last year leaving the best WR in the league 1 on 1 against CBs who couldn't start in NFL Europe.

The key will be the O-Line. If they protect Rex, we'll be fine. The D looked pretty good at times, though they gave Favre too much time to throw during much of the 1st half. They aren't what they were with Harris and Brown (dominant); they can still dominate at times, but I think they are more a bend-but-don't-break crew now.

And, BTW, Benson needs to start...now. The next time Jones runs fwd rather than laterally will be an improvement.

I'm not gonna watch the sport section in news, listen to sports radio, or Bears podcast in 2 weeks. Likely criticism, bashing, and complaining galore.

Wow! What a horrible game! This has been a strange season. Win 13 games, and most of the fans think this team is horrible. All season, all I have heard is:

- Griese should start.

- Benson should start.

- To start the year, people thought Bradley should start over Berrian.

- Desmond Clark isn't a good enough TE.

- Tillman isn't a good enough CB.

- Urlacher is overrated.

Well, folks (granted most on here have not been saying most of these), these are the same guys that are gonna represent the NFC in SuperBowl XLI. This team is good enough to win it all and be the undisputed best team in the NFL.

I will agree on one thing, Benson should get more carries than Jones at this point. I'm probably the last to come around on this one, but Ced hits the hole much harder....hell, he actually hits the hole, which is something I can't say Jones does consistently. Another big key is he doesn't fumble the ball. It's not like Jones puts it on the ground often, but Benson has the most touches in the league this year w/o a fumble.

The Bears are good at shutting people up. When they have something to play for this team will turn the intensity up, and that combined with the talent they have will mow through the NFC. The Giants are no match for the Bears at this point. The Cowboys can be exploited with a good pash rush and on special teams. Seattle won't beat the Bears either.

The thing that scares me is that the defense has been just awful. That is supposed to be the backbone of this team. It has allowed over 300 yards of offense 5 of the last 6 games after not allowing it all season prior to that. You can call it simplified schemes or whatever, but the fact of the matter is, the defense has sucked since before we had everything wrapped up. If the offense doesn't step up without Brown and Harris, there is no reason to rely on the offense to 'save us' in our playoff game.

I see what you are saying, but I guess I'm not that worried. Both starting CBs haven't played at the same time in the last 5 games. I love the man for his return skills, but anytime Hester has to play DB, it's gonna be a problem for the defense.

Get both CBs in there with Manning as the nickel and none of the potential QBs in a playoff matchup scares me.
