Griffey was my favorite player in the game growing up. It really is a shame that he became so injury prone.

 

Here here. He came up when I was in my early teens and reinvigerated my love of the game. I still love his sweet swing and his incredible play in CF.

 

And I agree with Pedro - if he isn't an HOFer, I don't know who is.

I know he is, but I still had to ask. Will the HOF voters be nitpicky about Griffey's inability to stay healthy as he got older---regardless of the way he played the game as a contributing factor to his injury woes? Or will they want to see him stay reasonably healthy for a couple of yrs, before they guarantee the spot?

I don't think it matters. His numbers are among the best ever for a CFer. He's a lock first ballot HOF IMO.

Junior has gotten a little porky. He even has a bit of a double chin. Obviously the broken hand wasn't due to fatness, but I wouldn't give him a free pass for some of his other health difficulties because he hasn't stayed in shape.
