heh, weird. I just stumbled upon some Sosa memorabilia in my drawer and put it back up on one of my shelves to display.

It was 3 Sosa cards in a little display case that I got for my birthday in 2000 or 2001.

And yeah, I'm serious too.

A Jones/Sosa platoon would look mighty good.

A Floyd/Sosa platoon would be even better. Hey, as bad as Sammy was with Baltimore, his splits were still perfectly fine against LHP--

288/370/471, good for an 841 OPS in a ballpark not particularly friendly to RH hitters. In 2004 with the Cubs? Weird stats: 253/393/442 for an 835 OPS. Killer OBP, but all of his power was against RHP, where he posted a higher 850 OPS, but a sad 315 OBP.

An 840 OPS against lefties would sure complement either Floyd or Jones against RHP. Plus, I love Sammy, I want a happy ending with that story.

One final tidbit: Alfonso Soriano's hometown? San Pedro de Macoris. Aramis Ramirez and Felix Pie? Fellow Dominicans that IDOLIZE Sammy. I'm just sayin'....would a $1MM contract and a bench role kill the Cubs that bad? You can find room on the roster for the Freddy Bynum's and John Mabry's and Jose Macias' of the world in years past, but not Sammy Sosa?

C'mon Hendry, lighten up.....

I have no respect for a guy who hit his wife over the head with a wine bottle...screw him

people still believe that?

I'm curious as to what teams would be interested. Whomever they are, I wish Sammy nothing but the best and hope he plays well! It's too bad the Cubs won't consider bringing him back.

Won't happen, but sign him up Jimbo. Soriano to center, Jones and Sosa to right, Murton in left. Big potential there.

If he sucks, no loss, he can then officially retire a Cub with some dignity.

Peter Gammons said on Mike and Mike this morning that the Nationals were quite interested for cheap money.

I'd love to see Sammy come back. He's one of my favorite players and in my opinion would make a great platoon player w/ Jones or Floyd.

Like others on here, though, I seriously doubt it happens.

It truly is a shame that ego and other non-baseball reasons will be used for not bringing in a guy like Sammy to platoon with Jones (or Floyd) in RF. That could be a remarkably productive combo. But it has no chance of happening.

I would LOVE to see Sosa attempt a comeback with the Cubs. We could use a Sammy who is somewhat productive.

But let's be real, folks. This IS NOT going to happen. There is a different side of the card that WE don't see, and I have a feeling that Sosa/Cubs relationship is not a pretty thing.

I love sammy.

I'd love for sammy to come and play for some team, reach 600 HR's, and be productive.

That being said, I dont want him anywhere near the cubs because the fans would be ignorant pricks like they were when he left. And, I fear that his skillset is so far diminished by now it would be like Jordan on the Wizzards.

Yeah, it would be interesting, but can Sosa really handle what would likely be a significant bench role?

I think there are teams out there that should definitely consider it. The Cincinnati Reds being one of those teams.

Sosa will need a major overhauling. His bat speed isn't quick enough for his stance and that hit to the head brought the element of fear to his game. He never stood as close to the plate as he did before the Torres FB.
