WEEK 16: Bears at Detroit Sunday December 24th noon CST

Two of the guys on Sportsline.com have the Lions winning in an upset.

Peter King has the score 30-7 Bears.

Since the Bears have nothing left to play for except practice, I wouldn't be terribly surprised if they didn't end up winning this game. The only implications it has is on next year's first overall pick, so the Lions may not be terrible interested in winning either, but it's not out of the question that the Lions take this one. (I'm giving the guys on Sportsline the benefit of the doubt and assuming they're using the same logic. If they just think the Lions will surprise the Bears hands down, then...)

The Lions will completely meltdown at the 8 minute mark of the 2nd period when all of their fans walk out.

No way. At the 7:55 mark, Millen will be fired. By 7:15 in the 2nd, they will have hired a new GM, and by the second half, the new GM will have a fully competent team on the field, and all the fans that left will have magically solved all the Lions' troubles!

All right, I want you to put down those Lefty Luckies, and never smoke those things again !! You hear me ???

I don't feel like reading this whole thread so if this topic has been discussed already, I apologize. Has Lovie Smith said anything about playing/not playing the starters this weekend and, if he's going to play them, for how long?

The Bears are only favored by 5 on the road and, considering the Lions are going for the #1 pick, I would think this is a virtual lock if the Bears play their starters the whole game.

He says he'll play 'em, but I hope he rests anyone who has even the slightest injury.

Honestly, who cares about this game? People are being silly----rest the players. If we want to stay warmed up for the playoffs then fine, play more starters against Green Bay.

ChicagoSports.com[/url]"]Cook County judge set bond at $100,000 for Bears defensive lineman Terry "Tank" Johnson and also ordered 24-hour home confinement for the trouble-prone player who appeared at a hearing this morning to answer allegations that he violated his probation on a 2005 gun charge.

Judge John J. Moran told Johnson that he can leave his home to travel to work, but that someone else must drive him. "Absolutely no stops. Not for a drink, not for a sandwich, not even for a drive-thru," Moran said.

Moran also told Johnson that he would have to get court permission to leave the state, including for out-of-town games. He denied a request by Johnson's attorney, Lorna Propes, to allow the player to travel to Tempe, Ariz., to visit his family for the Christmas holiday.

....................

Johnson is serving 18 months' probation after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor unlawful gun possession charge in Cook County. He was arrested on that charge in June 2005.

In addition to the recent arrest, county officials allege that Johnson violated his probation by not submitting to drug and alcohol evaluation and by failing to complete 40 hours of community service. Cenar today said Johnson has only completed 8 of the 40 required hours his probation began.

....................

If the judge approves the county's current petition, Johnson could face 364 days in Cook County Jail or state prison time. Moran may not rule on the petition until Johnson appears before a Lake County judge on his recent arrest.

That's rough. At least he can play for now.

Before actually bothering to read it is that Gene Alphabet article on ESPN even worth clicking on?

Its the worst article about the Bears i've ever read.

It basically says expect the Bears to be upset in the first round because they are a bunch of overrated wimps.

How long does Tank have to stay in his home and only allowed to travel to practice, away games, and home games?

Yeah, I'm aware.

I'm a smidgeon away from scoring 2 club seat tix to the Bears divisional playoff game......at face value.

I just thought you should all be aware. Feel free to alert the media if you get a little extra time today 8-)

Also, according to Rotoworld:

FoxSports.com's John Czarnecki reports that Brian Griese may play for much of the second half Sunday.

Chicago would like to rest a few of their starters after getting a big lead early against Detroit. Thomas Jones and Brian Urlacher are two other candidates. We'd be wary of starting Grossman in fantasy leagues unless it was necessary. Dec. 24 - 8:57 am et

Just a reminder:

Grossman started out 4-16 for 1 yard in the first 25 minutes of the Bears playoff game last year (no joke)

Tillman, Joe, and Tait are all inactive today.

When's the last time Tillman missed a game? Who's starting at tackle?

He didn't play in the regular season finale last year.

Not sure who's starting.

Lovie confirmed that Grossman won't play the entire game.

Chris Harris will start, but Todd Johnson will be ready to go, as well.

Hahah. The Lions spent time this week practicing with crowd noise in case the Bears fans get loud like they did in St. Louis.

I don't like the all-white. Of course, this will be the last time they'll be in their road uniforms. If they make it to the SB, they'll get to pick which uniforms to wear.
