Nice sportsmanship, Rex.

What happened?

He took a knee and ran off the field into the tunnel like he has a plane to catch. I guess he could be going to relieve himself, but I sincerely doubt it.

Zoom: Time for Griese

Dent: Time for Griese

Jiggets: Defense can't be relied on for that many turnovers every time, some decision at QB must be made, maybe some adjustments....something.

Jiggets: That lack of offense at some point is going to burn you, and burn you badly.

Damn straight. It's time to just try Griese. Can't be worse than Rex.

Seriously, this is beyond me not liking Rex anymore. Try Griese. If he doesn't work out, then go back to Rex. You no longer have anything to lose. A 0.0 rating is BEYOND pathetic. HFA isn't going to matter if Rex keeps playing like he has been.

Go right back to Rex? So you sit Grossman for two or three weeks, go back to Rex right before the playoffs start, and expect him to play better than he did today?

They're not facing good competition the rest of the way. Let the offense come back together again over the last four weeks.

They're not going to be making any switches, so it doesn't really matter.

Grossman wasn't exactly playing a good team today either. He's getting worse, not better. What's the harm in seeing if Griese can be good? Rex can't have any confidence at this point anyway, so I can't believe he's going to be crushed.

The last comment is just dismissive for no reason. I don't see you going into the threads in Transactions about Zito or Bonds or Drew or anyone, telling people that their comments don't matter.

Grossman: "I know I can play, it's just a matter of doing it on the field."

"Gloves didn't have an effect."

"Never got into a rhythm against them."

"Proud of the team and what we have accomplished."

"I'm thinking too much. I'm trying to analyze things too much. I just need to play and not worry about these little things. It's easily corrected."

"I just need to worry about fixing these errors. Nothing else."

I just don't understand why anyone would be so against Griese coming in. I don't know if Griese is going to come in and light it up, probably not. But what is the harm in at least making the switch? Rex is playing terrible and isn't showing any signs of improvement. We have a backup for a reason, why not give him a shot?

BTW, Lovie says:

Tommie Harris - sprained knee

Nathan Vasher - hamstring

I think you start Rex next week, but keep him on a leash. St. Louis should be a good tonic for him, but if he struggles again, you have to go with Griese. If he can't do well against the Rams, he's beyond redeemable at this point.

Also, Benson needs to get at least 20 carries. Though, I'm not getting my hopes up on that front.

They didn't play a good secondary today, yet the offense still sucked. That's not just Rex. The receivers weren't open and Turner's playcalling sucked.

And the harm of going to Griese, as I said, is putting Grossman back in there in a few weeks with little to no chance to get things going again and with a bunch of rust on that arm. We already know Grossman's ceiling is well above that of Griese. If they can still cruise into HFA, why make a change?

I also don't buy into the no confidence thing at all.

How is it dismissive? I already addressed the issue before that. And is there anyone out there who actually thinks Lovie is going to make the change?

Lovie:

"Difficult to win the division 2 years in a row. That's big."

"We made a lot of great plays. RMJ's interception was big. All of them were big."

"Hester is a special player. Every time he touched the ball I felt like he could score."

"Offensively we didn't get much done. The turnovers, we have to correct. Pleased with how we ran the football. Benson really came on strong."

"Harris sprained knee. Vasher hamstring."

"We have a lot to do yet. Good to get the first goal accomplished. Now we are going to see if we can get home field advantage."

"I'm definitely concerned about the injuries, hopefully they will be O.K."

"Rex is our Quarterback."

"Difference between perception and reality. We're 10-2 with Rex at QB. That's the reality. We aren't changing. We're 10-2 with Rex."

"Pretty hard for me to tell you all the things we would need to change. At 10-2, there's not alot that needs to be changed. We're in the playoffs now. We are going to cherish that right now. We know we have work to do, and we will do it."

"We're in the playoffs. It's big. Other people think it's easy to do. I've never been associated with a team that went back-to-back division champs. We're definitely celebrating in the locker room."

Because they'd like to win a game in the playoffs for once? They probably could've won with Orton out there today. Maybe they could get HFA with him too? Should we do that?

I think that the Bears need to stick with Grossman since the games are "less important" the rest of the way in, but some of you are being much too dismissive of Griese. He has a career completion percentage of 64% and a QB rating of 85. You can't make him out to be a scrub, because he isn't.

Hey Jon and Rasin, may I reply in kind, or will you deal with this?

You know full well that's out of line. Attack the post, not the poster.

I don't think we're making him out to be a scrub. I think if anything, it's more of a response to those who think Griese is some kind of QB god who is going to come in and be lights out.

Anyway, I agree that they need to stick with Grossman. If you can develop a franchise QB while winning, you can't ask for much more. He has shown a lot of ability and he just needs to work out the kinks. He's still really young in terms of age, and even younger in terms of games played.

My arguments would probably look a lot more credible if I didn't have this damn sig, LOL.

Grossman has started what, 20 games? 4 more games is a significant percentage of playing time in his development. And let's not forget that he's already played pretty well in one playoff game.

This was NOT just a Grossman issue today. It's just wasn't. Berrian was a big reason for that INT on the deep ball, as was Turner. As I said, the receivers weren't getting open. The playcalling did not help Grossman out at all. And they still barely threw the ball.

And I'll say this again about last week. Factor in the PI and the non-PI calls and his game looked a lot better. He deserves at least some credit for those.

From what I have read, nobody is saying that. They're saying that Griese will come in and be more effective and make fewer mistakes.

People have been propping Griese up with that "highest passer rating in Bears history" crap since August. A lot of people know the name and just think he's great. Personally, I have a lot of friends from Miami who are Dolphins fans, and they just go on about how terrible Griese is, so maybe I'm a bit biased.
