Someone help me out here. Assuming there is no ligament damage (or little), how long would Tommie Harris' knee take to heal? Am I wrong in thinking he'll be back for the playoffs, especially if/when we get a first round bye?

There's no way to say until the rehab starts.

When's the last time we had a QB with only 34 total passing yards in a game?

seems like something henry burriss could have done

Somehow, he managed to get 78 in that one start he had against Tampa.

Maybe go back to the Moses Moreno/Steve Stenstrom days?

If it's a tear, he's done until next October.

Answering the question "will he be back in time for the playoffs?".

If it's a tear, he might be back in time for the 2007 playoffs.

Even if it's really a sprain I don't see him being ready in 6 weeks.

I missed the "If" in your prior post for some reason.

it it's a tear, I agree with your assessment. done for the year. if a sprain, it all depends on the degree of sprain.

He might miss that first playoff game regardless of anything else.

This really sucks, but you know what? The way Tommie has been playing lately-----he himself even said he's had trouble being motivated for games. I think he needs a rest. He's only 295lbs and gets double teamed by 340 pounders every week.

boy, Joe Buck is going to ride this Grossman non-cotroversy for all it's worth, isn't he.

God I wish he would shut up.

But I also wish Grossman would shut him the hell up, and he hasn't.

So it just sucks all around.

Freaking Buck. Just knowing that even if the Cubs make the playoffs he's there waiting for us is enough to send me into a clinical depression.

I wouldn't call it a non-controversy.

ok, how about this. He's riding Grossman into the ground for bad performances against the 2, 8, and 10th defense in the league while worshipping the ground of Romo for his work against defenses in the bottom half of the league. (granted Grossman had a bad peformance against one bad D and Romo a good peformance against on good D.)

not a quip to you. their just driving me a little goofy.

To be fair to those calling for a change, it's doubtful Lovie would announce it 10 minutes after the game ends.

If they do go to Griese, it would probably be announced Wednesday.

I still think it would have to be this week, or never.

4 games would be marginal to work in a new QB as it stands----veteran or not.

3 games? That's just too late. There won't be a game on the schedule that will even remotely resemble what will be seen in the playoffs, either.

So it's a tough sell, even if Lovie wanted to make a change. Griese just has no experience with this team----no experience going through the wars, the tough teams.

Well...

They gave Rex 6 quarters of football to get ready for Carolina last season. He wasn't sharp against Carolina, but in his case he was coming off injury.

Griese (thanks to Grossman engineered blowouts) has seen time this season. He would likely require less time to be ready.

I'm going to exercise my right to change my mind.

Here's what I'd like to see at this point. I'd like to see Lovie tell both Rex and Brian Griese that next week Griese will play. And that no matter what happens in that game, that Rex will get his job back after that. I feel like Rex needs a mental break. He's been getting a lot of coaching in the past few weeks I'm sure, and I feel like he's getting a little overwhelmed with info, and it's affecting his decision making on the field. A week off, just to recharge his mental batteries won't hurt. It also wouldn't be bad to see what you have with Griese.

I don't think it will hurt Rex if you make it clear that anything short of a FABULOUS game by Griese would give Rex his job back the following week.

But Ron Turner needs to get his head out of his ass and realize that the running game is the strength of this offense right now, and that he needs to use that much more than he is.

I think he would need to have at least a tough game or two, and there's none left on the schedule.

It would be Detroit......Green Bay......Tampa.....then CAROLINA (or similar).

I just think that's a recipe for a huge letdown.

Believe it or not, the Bears can clinch a first round bye with a win and a Cowboys loss against the Saints.

Current Standings (Conf record in parethesis)

Bears 10-2 (8-0)

Saints 8-4 (7-1)

Cowboys 8-4 (5-3)

OK so all the teams have 4 games to play. Next week the Saints and the Cowboys play each other. The winner is in the drivers seat, the loser is in trouble. So assume a Bears win next week, the Bears clinch at least a tie for the bye week with only tie breakers that would do us in because either the Saints or the Cowboys will lose.

So if the Cowboys win (and Bears):

Bears 11-2 (9-0)

Cowboys 9-4 (6-3)

Saints 8-5 (7-2)

So the Bears would be up 3 games over the Saints with 3 to play, but cannot clinch because if the Bears lost out and the Saints won out, the Saints would have a better conference record (10-2 vs. 9-3)

If the Saints and Bears win:

Bears 11-2 (9-0)

Saints 9-4 (8-1)

Cowboys 8-5 (5-4)

In this scenario, the Bears would be up 3 games over the Cowboys with 3 to play, and would clinch a bye because if the Bears lost out and the Cowboys won out, the Bears would have a better conference record (9-3 vs. 8-4)

But, should this scenario the conference tiebreaker record for the Saints would be improved, and HFA might be tougher to clinch.

That said here is the scenario for next week:

IF THE BEARS WIN AND THE COWBOYS LOSE, THE BEARS CLINCH A FIRST ROUND BYE

I was on top of it in the other thread, only not so verbose
