All of a sudden, that deal we gave Soriano doesn't seem so bad.

This market really confuses me. Ramirez gets 5/73, But Soriano gets 8/136 (I understand the circumstances, but to FA's, those might not matter). Then Daisuke gets a 50 mil posting fee, and Pierre gets 9 mil per for 5 years. Imagine what Barry Zito will get when he signs. 6/110M?????

Let's hope the Soriano thread was better too.

My contributions to that thread will forever be memorialized.

I will always remember where I was when...

- the space shuttle Challenger exploded

- the 9/11 attacks took place

- the Cubs lost game 6

- you desecrated the Soriano thread

HAHAHA, thats awesome, I hated Pierre.. I clicked on that dodgers message board and they all seem to like the signing?? One guy wrote that he hits 300 and steals 50 bases and had 200 hits.. I wanted to post back that 300 doesn't mean anything if your OBP is 330. And the 200 hits and 50 sb doesn't mean as much when you get caught stealing/picked off at a 30% clip.. Not to mention all of the extra bases he gave up with his arm or lack there off..

I'm still laughing. My side hurts.

I'm sure Juan is a great guy, but boy did I hate when the Cubs traded for him.

58 steals, 204 hits last year, becoming the second player in histosy after Buddy Bell to have 200 hits in a season and not bat .300. I'd say he's a steal if you can get him.

He thinks that's a good thing?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

This is the worst deal since Darren Dreifort. I'm dead serious. Pierre is going to SUCK within a couple of years.

And then you can go to Cubs.com and check their top plays archive from 2006--twelve Pierre plays made the cut. Some are pretty damn good too

welp, i'm sold.

Maybe Juan can now upgrade from his Kia with all this $. No really i saw him leave Wrigley in a Kia. Everybody had fancy rides but the little man. Maybe those hummers and escolades were too big for him.

The suck period started before Hendry acquired him.

Oh, I know. But there's sucking, and then there's SUCKING. I mean, Pierre's going to be putting up .210/.260/.300-type numbers around year 3 of this deal.

An article just came across the wire where the only thing Coletti says about Pierre is that he's a good character guy.

For 45 million bones, you better believe I want a few more positives than that

Soriano and Jones for $22M or Furcal and Pierre for $22M?

I like Cubs.

Using Wins Above Replacement Player (WARP1) from BP:

In 2005:

Soriano (4.0) + Jones (4.5) = 8.5 wins

Furcal (8.6) + Pierre (3.5) = 12.1 wins

In 2006:

Soriano (8.6) + Jones (4.2 WARP1) = 12.8 wins

Furcal (7.9) + Pierre (3.8) = 11.7 wins

In 2007: ?? Looks like Soriano's the wildcard
