Bruce, anyword as to what is next on his agenda? I assume pitching and will he look for one via trade and another as a FA?

 

Looks like pitching is the next item on the to-do list.

 

So does this end all hope of bringing in JD Drew?

So last year the Cubs got a .249 EqA out of CF from Pierre for 526 outs and Soriano's career EqA is .287. Of course Soriano won't get out as often, but 480 is +32 runs, and I am liking that. Couple that with Lee getting healthy and our lineup is looking pretty good.

If Soriano does hit leadoff, how important does the OBP of the 8th hitter become?

 

Honestly, I'd study what LaRussa did by putting the pitcher in the 8th spot and have the better bat in front of him. It doesn't mean I'd do it, but I would look into it.

 

I doubt there has ever been an NL team in this situation if he hits leadoff.

Murton

Lee

Ramirez

Jones

Barrett

Derosa

SP

So when can we expect the press conference with Soriano in Cubs uniform ect? Cubs.com said something about an official announcement perhaps coming as soon as tommorow, would that include a press conference with the player and contract details? Maybe Bruce would have some more info on this. If there was going to be a press conference tommorow wouldn't they have announced it already so that people can get to Wrigley or wherever they would hold it?

I wasn't quite certain that's why I made my 2nd post so obviously ridiculous, I'm still not sure if it was picked up.

The Cubs are waiting on a physical before Soriano is signed.

 

Assuming there are no complications, look for the PC to be tomorrow afternoon with contractual details soon after.
