It will be very interesting to see what happens with my idle Badgers in this weeks BCS. the three teams directly in front of them all lost, so they should move up, but the two teams directly behind them won and may move past.

my hope, not because I think they deserve it, more to show how stupid the ranking and BCS systems are is:

Badgers move up three to 5, UCLA beats USC, Arkansas beats Florida, Rutgers beats WV and the Big Ten finishes 1,2,3 in the BCS and the BCS bowl games chock full of teams that aren't even in the top 10 of any poll or the BCS.

maybe then they will realize that no amount of tinkering is going to work, they blow this whole thing up, and start over.

Too bad that Wisconsin didn't beat anybody and doesn't deserve to be ranked #3.

hey man, I'm sorry I turn out to be right in all the rows we have, but that doesn't excuse failing to read anothers post before sounding off about it.

USC is a good football team.

I love the crap out of Weis, but this team laid up two stinkbombs in the two biggest games of the year. And I have no idea why.

Quinn's stats belie that he was missing his most dependable target (Carlson) and Rhema/Freeman played like crap, combining for about 10 drops. His receivers and Oline screwed him on a couple of occasions. He played very well considering the circumstances, especially since he played hurt. Hope he enjoys the trip to NY although he obviously won't win the Heisman.

I echo DCF. Thanks for the awful secondary, Ty. If ever there was proof that Weis will need a couple more years of recruits to make this team a real contender, this game was it. Just not enough talent yet.

Let's have Arkansas please win the SEC title game. That way the Rose Bowl can take Florida to avoid the ridiculousness of an ND/UM rematch.

All that said, this post is absurd with no further comment:

I don't want to hear crap from any ND fan. This is your team, you deserve this for how highly hyped up they were from day one.

Legacy of Brady Quinn: No big wins, against anyone. Heisman? Are you joking?

The Great, fat, Charlie Weis: Not a single big win, best game of his career is a loss to USC in 2005. Wow.

I can't believe what Bob Davie was blubbering out while he watched his beloved Irish go down: "Look, the only losses this team has had in the past year has been to three top 5 teams!"

Yeah, and you got blown out in every single one of them.

There are only 2 legitimate teams on the schedule, and ND lost by 20+ to each of them. Congrats.

The Irish are back, indeed!

Laid eggs? They were outclassed. Their only other games were against second tier programs, so of course they looked better.

Come on, man. Laid eggs?

Yes, laid eggs. Quinn has thrown 5 INTs all year and 3 of them came against UM. That's a laid egg. Hell he didn't even have any against USC whose D is pretty damn good too. Rhema hasn't dropped passes all year until this game. Freeman looked like crap. USC outplayed ND but that doesn't mean ND played their best game. I give all sorts of credit to UM and USC for playing the way they did in those games, but they weren't responsible for Rhema's not holding onto the football today or for ND's offensive line crapping out in the UM game.

The only consolation is that we likely didn't get beat bad enough to fall out of the BCS.

Wait, the reason Quinn threw those interceptions was purely because of him laying an egg and not because of the UM defense ?(and the supposed best defensive line in the nation?)

Yes, you can look really good against service acadamies, maybe only throw one or two picks. Congrats.

USC and Michigan? More talented than ND. Maybe Weis can recruit very well, we'll soon see.

Yeah, that great UM defense that gave up 503 yards to OSU. What an awesome defense.

I agree. Let's take one game against the best team in the nation and evaluate Michigan's defense based on that individual performance.

I'd like to see Arkansas vs WV. That game may have a 100 over under.

For you Penn State fans, I hear a lot of whispers about Rutgers coach Greg Schiano being the next Penn State coach when Joe Pa leaves. He is a Jersey guy but he played at Penn State. I really don't see him going to Miami.

I'd like to see Arkansas v. Wisconsin, and that may happen in the Cap One Bowl, but more than likely it ends up LSU v. UW. I don't think the Badgers would win, but I think it would be a close, tough, and exciting game.

I don't even know what the Cap 1 Bowl is! They keep changing sponsors and I can't keep up, is that a BCS game?

No-it is usually considered the best bowl besides the BCS. It pairs the Big 10 number 2 versus the SEC number 2. (likely number 3 vs. number 3 this year).

LSU is looking good for a BCS bowl this year thanks to Friday's win and losses by Texas, West Virginia and Notre Dame.

Yeah, I think LSU has to be WV fans this week. I think Notre Dame is still in-they might get an automatic bid, and they will certainly be picked even if they aren't. Then it simply comes down to LSU, Florida if they lose, or the Big East loser. It would be a great deal easier for LSU if they were being compared to a 2 loss WV than a 1 loss Louisville for the final at-large spot. They might get picked over a 1 loss Louisville, but they almost certainly would get picked over WV at this point.

A 2 loss LSU is more deserving than a 2 loss ND. Notre Dame's key victory is over Georgia Tech. LSU has victories over Arkansas and Tennesee.

I'd love to see a bowl match-up between ND and LSU.

It seems the coaches agree with you. Do you think the BCS would take a 2-loss LSU over a 2-loss Florida if Arkansas wins the SEC title game?

I agree re: the matchup. If LSU's schedule hadn't been so murderous this year maybe they'd have been able to get the SEC title and make the matchup happen.

I wasn't necessarily talking about what should happen, but rather what will happen-and there is almost no way that LSU is chosen over ND this year.

That coaches poll is interesting. I really thought that Arkansas and ND should have dropped about the same amount. Arkansas was closer (although LSU had a nice lead for most fo the second half) but ND was playing a better opponent and was playing on the road, while Arkansas was at home. I'm very surprised to see Arkansas only drop to 8 and ND drop 7 spots-there haven't been many teams in November to drop that far. I've been confused with the polls this year, but it's not that big of a deal I guess.

Well, ND was probably going to plummet if they lost at all just because of their recent schedule, similar to how WV plummeted after their loss for the same reason. The score of the game just gave them the excuse to do so. But like you said, as long as they stay top 14, it doesn't really matter.

I just don't see a mature kid leading the post Army victory 'beat SC' hoopla. nor do I see a mature kid being smirky during news conference or smacking gum getting off the bus at the biggest game of his life with an aloof yet cocky look on his face. Quinn did all of these things

I have not seen alot of him before, but what I have seen in the past week does not impress me in the least.

He's a college kid for christ sakes. These things happen. It's called school spirit. Heard of it?

yep. sure have, and most quarterbacks that are ready to be number one draft choices don't wear it on their shirtsleeve. rather they exude a quiet confidence and focus. I didn't see that out of Quinn in the last week.

look, I already backed off of my statements because of someone's assessment that those things I saw were out of character. you guys want to knock me around for my original statement when I leave the board, be my guest, but you look pretty petty doing so.

Fair enough. I just reread everything and realized you did back off. I was hammered last night when I made the post and didn't read everything. My bad.

This is one of many reasons why I despise the current system. It rewards teams that make the NCAA and the bowls the most money, not the teams that earn things on the field of play.

I don't have that much of a problem with Notre Dame and I certainly disagree with some of the opinions they have a very weak schedule. But, LSU is more deserving of a BCS appearance this year because of their realtive wins.

I do think an LSU/ND BCS match-up would be a lot of fun to watch though.

Quinn will get drafted by the Lions which makes it guaranteed that he'll suck for most of his pro career.

I tend to agree with soccer that the Raiders will take Quinn. They will likely have an earlier pick and would be dumb to take anything but a QB. Also, Quinn is closer to what Al Davis likes than is Troy Smith.

I really hope this doesn't happen as I graduated from LSU and am a big Notre Dame fan. I had this happen back in '97 or '98 and hated the situation.

Ugh-I remember that ND/LSU game too. ND won the game, but lost their QB for the season with like 4 seconds left in the game when he tried to take an intentional safety, and it cost us a great bowl.

Edit: You might be talking about the bowl game a couple years later where LSU blew ND out though-I was just thinking about one of the years you mentioned.
