Just remembered this one today and thought I'd post it to see if anyone else does. It was I think 1984. Wrigley Field, top of the 9th, Cubs up by a run or so. The other team, I want to say it was the Phillies, had like the bases loaded with 1 out. Someone hits a smash linedrive up the middle and it hits Big Lee Smith and freakishly floats over and lands on the fly in Bowa's glove. Bowa takes a couple of steps to 2nd to complete the game-ending double play and get the Cubs out of a huge mess.

Harry is like: "The good Lord wants the Cubs to win!!!! The good Lord wants the Cus to win!!!" That still cracks me up.

Anyone else remember that call?

I dont remember that one. My favorite one was probably when He was still with the Sox. Chet Lemon got caught in a rundown between 2nd and 3rd. Lemon was a notorious lousy baserunning with the White Sox. Anyway during the rundown Harry goes "oh Chrimeney!!! He looks like a squirrel on the freeway out there" Of course Jimmy Piersall was the color guy so he probably added to it. That was just great stuff when they were with the Sox.

For what it's worth, Steve Stone said that after the stroke in '87, Harry never took another drink. Alot of what went on in the booth was an act.

83 or 84, or sometime around then, Luis Salazar has a ball popped up to his side, and drops the ball because he couldn't find it in the sun. Harry groans "Christ, how does a Mexican lose a ball in the sun?!"

Or, in the late 80's, when Harry asks Steve "Did you know Benes backwarrds is Seneb?"

And finally, one of my all time favorites... "HEY! CHeck out the kid in the giant sombrero!"

I like the one where Haray says "Pop up to Ray Sanchez. He'd never miss one of these." Then Steve pipes in, "Harry I think he just dropped it." Harry says, "Well what do you know, he did."

Hey, that was mine!

It was the Expos, 1st & 3rd, one out in the ninth, Cubs up by 1 the day after they took over first place. On a full count with Miguel Dilone running, Pete Rose hit a line drive up the middle off of Lee Smith's back which was caught by Dave Owen. My main memory of the play was Owen absolutely firing the ball to Durham with Dilone already on 2nd. I'm thinking, why are you firing it?! "The good lord must be a Cub fan!"

Anytime the Phillies were in town, I LOVED hearing Harry talk about "Jim Eiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisenreiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiich"

The Rey Sanchez call was an absolute classic.

And the banter back and forth from Harry to Arnie anytime they'd show a bikini-clad lady in the bleachers. hahah hilarious.

Oh, and remember him mangling Mark Grudzielanek's name? that was probably the funniest I ever heard, I don't think he ever pronounced it the same way twice...

I believe I read that in "Wheres Harry," and they said the Bud cup was always just full of water.

another old one from the Sox..

"It's so hot out that the 3rd Baseman is Melton"

-In reference to Bill Melton.

Or, when Arnie zoomed in on Ronny Woo Woo in the bleachers, prompting Harry to say, " Is that Ernie?"

That makes me like Harry Caray even less- which is pretty hard to do.

How about the time Harry spied a couple snuggling under a blanket in the bleachers on a particularly cold day. Harry tells Steve the couple has a system set up to keep warm: he hugs her on the strikes and she kisses him on the balls. Someone on here had an audio link to this I am pretty sure. It's just classic. The best is everyone in the booth just losing it as he says it.

I am pretty sure he originally made this statement about Jorge Orta. Again with the Sox. He brought it back up about once every couple of years or so.
