2003 = ridiculous collapse in post season

2004 = enormous hopes followed by injuries and huge disappointment

2005 = white sox win world series

2006 = cardinals win world series

i think it's pretty reasonable to suggest there's never been a worse time to be a cub fan

Having lived through 1984 and then 1985, I can live with 2003 and 2004. It's 2005 and 2006 I can't live with. I'm thankful I no longer live in St. Louis.

My ipod died today and the Cards are going to win it. I am looking for reasons to live and right now I can't find any.

There's a god?

My pastor once told me that her mother wanted nothing more than to see the damn White Sox win it all before she died. She then quoted the scripture that says 'god will give you the desires of your heart.'

Now tell me there's a god.

I know I shouldn't take this crap hard, but I can't figure out how to not let it bother me, or figure out how to stop following the cubs.

The cardinals are going to win the world series immediately before my in-laws show up from St. Louis, which will be followed by me having to take 6 optometry school finals in 8 days.

The Cardinals haven't won the WS yet. Couldn't they lose it, and make the off-season all that more fun? A 3 game losing streak could turn into some "momentum," and we could make a turnaround ourselves.

The Cardinals have won anything yet!

It's better this way. Rip off that band-aide! Don't let it fester as you slowly peel away the sides! Builds some character. Ha.

I don't personally know anyone who was alive when it was good to be a Cubs fan. My great-grandmother passed away in 2000; she was 102 years old. But the 1908 Cubs didn't really make an impression on her, even though she lived in northcentral Indiana. They didn't have a radio then and she didn't make the journey to Chicago until she was much older.

Is it worse to be a Cubs fan now than in the 50s? The best they finished was 5th place.

There are a lot of hard times to be a Cubs fan. Maybe the hardest is when you do the math and realize that you may be the next to die before the Cubs win it all.

While true, what are the odds of the Tigers pulling it off?

About the same as the Cubs winning it all before 2008.

on the Eastern Illinois University campus in Charleston, IL, the majority of the students are Cardinals fans...I still wear my Cubs gear from time to time, but it makes me wanna cry that the Cards are going to win the World Series, largely because Curtis Granderson fell down and their pitchers cannot field or make good throws...:(
