again? I think it's the same thing as before.

Yeah, it just says that he got a second opinion other than O'Neal. It's a good thing.

Unless you know O'neal's medical abckground then you are pretty unqualified to make that statement.

I know Mark, Mark did some work on me a while back. He is a ifne trainer.

When did you get worked on by Mark O'Neal?

When he was in the St. Louis Cardinals organization.

I just don't understand why it took so long to get the second opinion.

This puzzles me as well. Why not obtain the opinions of those that we deem important two months ago rather than now? I infer this to mean that the steps they've taken over the last couple of months have failed, and thus they sent him to Andrews for evaluation recently....zero progress since being placed on the DL.

O'Neal has constantly misdiagnosed our pitchers the past couple years. And even if that is ignored, he went to see Andrews, who's widely regarded as the best around.

Unfortunately, this has been typical as of late with this organization. We're the laughing stock of MLB when it comes to diagnosing injuries. I don't care if this Mark O'Neal's fault or not heads have to roll if there has been a chronic problem with injuries to almost all of the pitchers. O'Neal and Rothschild are the first two culprits that come to mind and they are both back for next year. Hallelujah!

I guess it's encouraging that Prior has seen Yocum and Andrews, two of the best when it comes to sports-related injuries. For a while it seemed like the Cubs would just go with "their" doctors. Getting opinions from great doctors is a nice idea... overdue though.

ah, it's been soooo long since we had a 'prior is a wuss' thread. feels good to have one again.

When are we allowed to want to move on from depending on him? After 3 dissapointing seasons? 4?

3 should be good. So after this year he's fair game.

Mark Prior ain't worth the $4MM in arbitration. Put a fork in him, and put the money to use towards a pitcher that can help us. A chronically-injured guy has no value, despite the once-fearsome talent.

Mark Fidrych, Bo Jackson....

I would take either one of Mark Prior's 2004 or 2005 seasons, including the IP, for $4 considering what pitchers get paid. If he can get to 2003 levels he obviously is a Cy Young type pitcher.

2004- 4.02 ERA 21GS 118.2 IP 48BB 139K

2005- 3.67 ERA 27GS 166.2 IP 59BB 188K

And you never know theres still the potential to reach that 2003 level:

2003- 2.43 ERA 30GS 211.1 IP 50BB 245K

Now if we could use him in a trade for ARod I would definately consider it, but you make it sound as if we should just cut him or trade for whatever we can get.

I don't think Hendry will depend on him to be anything more than a fifth starter. I know its hard to have confidence in our gm but he would be ignorant to count on prior until he can finish a season without a freak accident or chronic ailment.

I think we're already past the point of depending on him. Hendry better being going into next season with the idea that Prior is a #5 pitcher at best and that whatever he gives us next year is a bonus, or we're going to have the same problems we had this year.

Oh. I wasn't aware we had an ex-player on board. Cool.

Hehehe....

I wish.

I topped out with College, that is when I saw him.
