bad news for some other bubble teams-Purdue probably has punched their ticket, and Kansas State probably has as well.

In other games, Boston College avoids the upset and beats Miami by 3 in OT.

I don't understand how KSU and Purdue have sealed the deal. I mean, if they weren't in before, why does winning a game against a bubble team(Iowa wasn't really even a bubble team either) put you in? I see it if KSU beat aTm, or if Purdue knocked off Wisconsin, but I think this is a case of overemphasizing the conference tourneys.

KSU finished 4th in the Big 12, and this confirms that they are a top 4 team. How could they not be in? The Big 12 is deserving of at least 4 teams... The thing I wonder is if this loss keeps Tech from getting in? They have some big wins this year.

the committee, allegedly, will take imbalanced schedules into account. Thus, KSU's place in the standings does not mean they automatically get in over TT, as Tech placed 5th playing a much tougher schedule and had some high-quality wins. (2 over aTm and one over KU.)

I saw this game as a must win for KSU, not so for TT. TT will have to sweat a bit more, but they still might get in, and it could be at KSU's expense.

Does Duke deserve to be in? There record is bubblish and they have won key win vs. Gonzaga at their second home in NY.

That's not their only pretty good win non-conference. They also have wins over tournament teams Air Force, Indiana, Georgetown, and Holy Cross in addition to their ACC wins-that will get them into the tournament.

Yes. Air Force, Indiana, Georgetown, v. Gonzaga, @BC, and GT are all good wins. They're 13-9 against the RPI top 100, have the #3 SOS, and they're 16 in RPI. They might've been on the bubble if not for the win streak they went on after the first Maryland game.

Now Arkansas has upset Vanderbilt. Florida is the only thing between there being an automatic bid from the SEC that wasn't expected-if they go down, that bid could cause problems for those squarely on the bubble.

Truffle,

Grats to Holy Cross. My GF, a Colgate Alum, was happy to see Bucknell lose.

Thanks! I came down with some nasty thing that's been going around town, threw up twice and had a temperature of 95.5 this morning and 101 this afternoon. But I'm feeling better now that we're going dancing, and it feels great to beat the team that has become our archrivals. I don't hate any one player at Bucknell though - just their d-bag coach who's rivalled only by Coach K in whining about the refs. Still, wasn't surprised to see it get tight at the end - those teams almost never play lopsided games. I thought the support from our women's team (and the men's team support of our women on Wednesday night) was great, it looked like a lot of students came back early from their break for the game. Kudos to them.

I'm pretty sure I have to pick my boys to pull the first round upset this year... we have two amazing seniors who will be missed. GO CROSS!

Rhode Island just knocked off Xavier.

Yeah-the bids are shrinking late, but the number of available bids are definitely shrinking. These bubble teams are doing what they think they need, but with the number of bids going down that may become harder and harder. Xavier is going to take one of those precious at-large bids. Another bid or two could come out of the SEC.
