I'm not one to cheer injuries. But Ed Hightower tore a meniscus, and because of it is not reffing the UW/Iowa game. Anybody know how long a torn meniscus would keep a guy on the shelf?

Rereading this thread for the IU/Illinois talk and saw this for the first time. My eyes lit up. Surely he's got to be done for the season, right?

Why in the hell would you subject yourself to that?

Well, I'm kinda on the fence with how I feel about cancer, so I thought it might help me decide.

Why didn't Kelvin wear sneakers today? Is he pulling for cancer? lol.

Just another reason to hate the crybaby cheater.

I get the cheater refrence...but why is he a crybaby?

When I was watching the Iowa vs. IU game last week he seemed to be whining excessively to the ref's. I know many coaches cry to the ref's, it just seemed excessive to me. Hence my new name for him the crybaby cheater.

Ok, just curious.

Nobody in the Big 10 matches Weber when it comes to whining on the sideline though.

At least Weber isn't pulling for cancer. Sampson has sunk to a new low.

I know you're just kidding, but I really wonder why Sampson wasn't wearing smeakers. He is one of the big guys in Coaches vs. Cancer.

He wore dark colored sneakers. He doesn't like cancer.

Sure, keep telling yourself that. Kelvin loves cancer.

He loves being a cancer to the Illini's recruiting, does that count?

Yeah but Bruce is doing a good enough job of being that himself.

Wichita is toast IMO. Their complementary wins against Bradley, Syracuse, and LSU just keep getting worse, and their bad losses are staying bad.

They'll probably have to win their last four regular season games - which would include two teams ahead of them in the MVC in Creighton and Missouri State - which would have them finishing the regular season at 21-9 overall and 11-7 in conference. They would probably have to win a couple games in the MVC tournament on top of that, to finish 23-10, and even that might not be enough. It's very possible the only way they get in to the tournament is as the MVC tournament champion.

Don't forget winning their Bracketbuster game against Appalachian State is a must as well. But I agree. It's highly doubtful that they'll win out in the regular season, so their only way to get in would be to win the conference tournament.

I was including the bracketbuster game in the four regular season games. They have that game and 3 MVC games. But yeah, it's unlikely they win out.

i dont have much hope for a win at creighton on senior night

They are a very, very, very good team. Funk is, without a doubt, the best player in the MVC. It's not even close for who's second. Tolliver is a great big guy for them as well as he has an array of moves down low as well as being able to step out and hit a jumper. Their roles players are all very solid as well. They are going to be an extremely tough out in the tournament.

I'm real surprised that we came away and won both games against them this season; especially at their place. WSU can beat them; they certainly have the shooters to get it done, but all of them are going to have to be on if you guys want to beat the Jays.

I'm still bitter that wasn't a charge.

Yes, what crap.

I'd also like to see a shot like that for Grimes' poster dunk too.

I think KU set the record yesterday for most alley-oops in a game.

Not quite the same, but here's one of the Grimes dunk.

That's awesome. Get Chaka Kaun out of the way.

Creighton and MO St. better be careful down the stretch.

Creighton's profile is looking a lot like MO St. '06's and they were robbed of a spot in the tourney.

If MO St. loses to SIU on Tuesday they'll have been swept by them and Creighton, and could be in real trouble despite an early season neutral win over Wisky. Dropping that game in addition to Winthrop or at Wichita(No shame in either loss) puts them in real trouble. The MVC worked out well for the tourney teams last year as you had 4 pretty bad teams in Drake, Ind. St., Ill. St., and Evansville. This year the depth of the Valley with those 4 teams becoming medicore it's made the conference tighter and gives the potential for bad losses that weren't there last year.

The Mountain West this year looks pretty similar to Valley '06 with BYU, Air Force, and UNLV piling up wins against down teams from the MWC.

Normally, I'd really like whatever is best for the Valley. But if we are able to sweep Missouri State by winning in Springfield on Tuesday and if we can take down Butler on Saturday, we have a realistic chance at a 3 seed.
