Big 91-78 road win for Iowa at Minnesota, simply because of how we usually play up there. Very strange game. Minnesota is a good defensive team with a terrible offense yet they allowed us to shoot 59% and they shot 63%. Everything was going in.

Haluska had 34 points on 14 shots. 10-14 from the field, 6-10 from 3 and 8-8 from the line. He also had 8 assists and 6 boards. Although Tucker probably has it wrapped up, Adam is making a case for POY.

Iowa now sits at 14-10, 6-4. If they can win the 3 home games (Northwestern, Purdue, Illinois) and win at PSU (other road games are at Wisconsin and MSU) they'll be 18-12, 10-6 and have a case for the NCAA's with a good showing in the BTT. Not counting on it, but it's amazing that it's even a possibility.

UCLA playing like crap. Westbrook is the only guy who has shown up so far.

ETA: Why don't our big guys dunk it, you'll at least draw the foul. Grr.

Solid W tonight for SIU as the Salukis pick up their 20th win on the season, defeating Bradley 60-50. Tony Young had 25. We led by as much as 19 in the first half, but just like the Wichita State game, we let them back into it. Still, a solid win for us.

SIU hosts Creighton on Saturday at 5:00 on ESPN2. I'm glad I got my ticket in advance because the game has been sold out since Monday.

Duke coughs up a double digit second half lead and are about to lose to the Tarheels. Duke totally lacks that go to guy. I expect them to lose in the first weekend of the NCAA at this point

KU hammered KSU by 27. Not happy with he students, though. DUI chant + front page spread in the school paper titled "Hugs and Thugs" is pretty weak. Particularly the paper, as it reflects more on the university than a lame chant at the arena. Tacky.

I'd like to say that I completely approve of all of that.

Ball State beats Buffalo today and due to the sheer patheticness of the MAC West, a 4-6 conference record is good for 3rd place in the division.

It might be funny(ish), but I'd like to see the school paper make better decisions than this:

UCLA won it 70-65. Close UCLA-USC games are worth it just for the classic Tim Floyd late-game meltdown. I haven't seen Pauley that loud ever...and it's always great to see a "JUST LIKE FOOTBALL" chant for the final minute and a half of the game. :)

Illinois wins the much discussed NU game rather easily.

The big one from the Big 10 tonight was MSU getting killed by Purdue. MSU scored just 12 points in the 2nd half en route to a 24 point loss. They've lost 4 in a row(to be fair none of them easy: 2 with OSU and at U of I) and find themselves firmly on the bubble with a 4-6 Big 10 record. They still have a home and home with Wisconsin left along with IU in East Lansing. Their big wins are neutral against Texas and home against BYU and U of I. They could be in trouble if they drop that home game to IU or falter in any of their games they should win.

Other bubble games to take note of: Oklahoma getting a must win over OK St., Creighton surviving a close one against Evansville, Louisville losing at home to G-Town, and KSU getting obliterates by KU.

I'm sure The Antlers will come up with something good for this weekend when Kansas enters the building.

I'm debating several responses to this.

A) That's just good journalism

B) What do you expect, it is Kansas' J-School

or combining them for

C) That's good writing, even for Kansas

So whichever one you like best, pretend that's what I said.

I wonder if they'll be on Rush as much as they were last year. I have to admit that I liked "Four different High Schools, still can't read!" being chanted as he took free throws.

despite ESPN, despite Dick Vitale, despite all the hype, it's tough to beat Duke vs. North Carolina in college basketball.

Dick Vitale has to be in the running for most obnoxious person ever. I watched the whole game, much of which pissed me off like nothing else (Reyshawn Terry and your ridiculous turnovers!), and I kept wanting to turn him off.

Also, I'm glad that someone who's not a fan of either team feels this way about the games - they're SO intense every time.

all three are pretty good. I'll stick with a, though, and remind you our print j-school is quite highly regarded.

That brandon rush chant is funny, though.

That was outstanding. I was a little disappointed with them against Nebraska, I thought they could've done a lot better, but I bet they pull out all the stops against Kansas.

No doubt Texas Tech was their best showing with the pregame signs.

"Zeno Warrior Princess" for Zeno

"Knight School Dropout" for Voskuhl

"Dora Got Explored" for Dora

And the timeless classic for anytime the weather is bad:

Player A: "Plows the Road"

Player B that follows Player A: "The Road"

I can hardly wait for Saturday.

I was surprised at how poorly NU shot the ball at times tonight. Nice to see the old Richard McBride back (still can't stand him). I hope he remembers how to shoot in the "other" Assembly Hall this Saturday.

I'd like to say it's totally classless... You're just pissed cuz Mizzou sucks, and lost twice to us this year. Well, get use to it. It won't change next year.

We played the worst game we've played all year, but KU was really good. Can't take anything from them, although it was horrid to watch.

so is hiring a lowlife like thuggins to lead a basketball program. When you hire someone like him, people are going to make jokes about it.

LMAO! Like he's any more of a low life than half of the coaches out there. Give me a break. So, the guy got a DUI? So did I years ago, but does that make me a lowlife? It's all preception, but it's very classless of a university newspaper to print something like that. KU cheats and is sanctioned by the NCAA for it, but Huggins is a lowlife... hahahaha! Pot- Kettle!

I don't care about Kansas. His teams have been known for their rough (and sometimes dirty) play. Cincy was cited for lack of institutional control during his time there. The academic performance and rate of graduation of his players at Cincy was atrocious, and they recruited more guys with checkered pasts than any team I can think of.

Give me a guy like Bob Knight, who might not be the most pleasant fellow, but he holds his players accountable in the classroom and in their personal conduct. Huggins has never done that, and has never shown an ounce of interest in running a program that is respected for the way the athletes conduct themselves on and off the court. That is what makes him a lowlife.
