Without Lance Stemler, one of Indiana's only shots to stay in it is gone. He provided a constant 3 point threat that they need to have D.J. White be effective most of the time. Now it may be a measure of avoiding the blowout, and it's 6-0 Duke already.

In total, IU/Duke, PSU/Ga Tech, and Clemson/Minnesota look like guaranteed wins for the ACC. FSU/Wisky is the only "guaranteed win" for the Big 10. So we need to go 5-1 in the "toss ups"

Is Miami really that bad (no offense, Jon and contable)?

Would losses to Buffalo and Cleveland St. answer your question?

Wow.

greg paulus is garbage.

and if IU can't hang w/ this duke team, then they have a lot of work to do, because this Duke team is not very good. Their #10 ranking is a joke. Any talented, athletic team would own them.

I also want to add that this is the 3rd Duke game I'm casually watching, and in my viewing I think McRoberts is 0 for 9 from under 3 feet. He's the new Shavlik Randolph.

yeah, he's also seriously overrated. UNC is going to just hammer them when they play.

Well, Holy Cross played at Syracuse last night and only lost 72-64. Not bad at all. I think we should be pretty good this year - hopefully better than friggin Bucknell.

You out rebounded us and had to come from behind but couldn't quite make it over the hump. Willard was pretty pleased that Syracuse would play him as they have had a tough time getting the "big" schools to play them since they've done pretty well in the NCAA's. I think you guys will do quite well.

Yeah, we haven't gotten many games against the big conferences recently. Usually BC, because it's a rivalry (or at least was a rivalry, once upon a time). This year we have only two real tough non-conference games, Syracuse and Duke, and a few other competitive ones. I'm sure it was a good experience for the team.

HC has rebounded all of their opponents this year, which was surprising to me. I read Willard's website, and one of the things he was really harsh about was the team's softness early in the year. He also wrote this the other day, which I thought was kind of neat:

After we arrived back on campus I gave Torey a ride down to his dorm and asked if everything was alright. He told me everything was fine, but that he had been up to 4 AM the night before working on two term papers that were due. He knew with our coming travel schedule and four games in eight days , three on the road he had to do it. He said he felt "dead" at the start of the second half and had difficulty focusing. When I looked at the box score he was 4-6 from the field,3-4 from the line, with 6 assists and 2 turnovers. Not too shabby for someone who had gotten virtually no sleep the night before. Another example of what our guys have to deal with at a school like the Cross. The average fan should think about that before they publicly criticize a player. There is a lot more to take into account than meets the eye when you play in our program. Just another example of how Keith and Torey are young men who hold themselves accountable. Torey never told the team why he didn't have his usual energy, because he would never want them to think he was excusing himself. I drove home that night feeling once again really fortunate to have the opportunity to coach our kids.

Rich McBride is an absolute bum.

And Vazquez reminded of that guy you play pick up with that you just have to give a hard pick to to shut him up/make him whine.

Even without Randle and Smith(for all intensive purposes) we would have won if Brock would have got all of Richards minutes. Those two passes were absolutely terrible. Arizona is going to destroy us.

Penn State just will not go away. Down 4 with a minute and a half to play.

And in my primitive look at U of I, it looked like they didn't have anyone that could do a lot of creating for himself. McBride and Smith are good when they can spot up, but they didn't do a good job of creating anything for themselves, and Frazier isn't good enough (yet?) to create a lot of good opportunities. Speaking of Jamar, where did he go in the second half?

Georgia Tech must not be that good. Penn State lost to Shippensburg (exhibition, but still) and Stony Brook already this year.

I'm guessing Smith's ankle was acting up and they figured it wasn't worth risking losing him for most of the season.

Re: Creating their own shot, the frontcourt is much better at it than the backcourt, unless Pruitt is stepping 3 feet out of bounds trying to make a baseline move.

Moore realized he can shoot!

NU up by 6 with the ball. Very sound game for them aside from a string of a few turnovers. They have only allowed one fast break all game.
