Wooo Top 25!

I wouldn't call it a mismatch though. Especially with the way the Mizzou offense has looked the past two weeks.

Bad News:

Colorado almost won at Georgia last week

A lot of the talent from the Barnett era is still there

CU seems to be getting better each week

Mason Crosby

Good News:

Home game, hopefully a Top 25 ranking and the start of conference season attracts a crowd

CU still hasn't tasted victory, may be demoralized after last week's loss

The 13 points Colorado scored last week was a season high, v. our D

Our offense is struggling and still is putting up 30+ points a game

Hopefully we'll get the ball and put up a quick lead like we've done in previous weeks. Colorado can't throw the ball and the crowd will get involved with an early advantage and with any hope they'll make a mistake and we jump on it.

Thanks for the reminder, I forgot to put Rutgers into the schedule.

There are a lot of games this week that I didn't know whether to group into good or mismatches, including Missouri and Notre Dame (Purdue has looked really bad, but after last night I can't make any ND game a mismatch).

I would say Minnesota-Michigan is likely to be a mismatch. Who knows though.

Talentwise I'd say yes, but Minnesota's made a habit of playing them extremely tough, especially at the Metrodome.

That's true. I don't think Minnesota has the talent they have had in the previous few years though. We'll see. Like you said, it is in the Metrodome.

Agreed. We NEED a big crowd. At times during Ohio it actually got pretty loud. If we can get an additional 7-8 thousand fans in there, it'll be rocking. Hopefully the #25 will help attract people.

Michigan against Minnesota is a mismatch. I do think that Minnesota will do better on the ground than any other foe has so far against Michigan.

I think Colorado/Missouri will be one of the most interesting games this week. I dont know how to call it but it is intreging.

Great game this Sat night in Iowa. I know in last weeks thread there was a lot of talk about were Game Day will be at for some of the remainding games. Since Herbstreight does Sat night games on ABC I think he has to at least be close to wherever the game is he is doing. This is probably why they were at USC last week. I am glad Iowa gets one though. Great fans who really support their team even when they were down a couple of years ago.

I hope Illinois beats MSU. I know they wont but it is kind of like cheering against the Cubs to get Baker fired.

Both Ohio State and Michigan could lose this week.

Minnesota always plays Michigan tough in the Dome and Iowa at home should make the game interesting.

Go IUPUI er', I mean Perdue!

Everything else is irrelevant this week.

Seriously though there isn't much else this week. Georgia Tech/Va Tech could be a good matchup as could the two SEC games you have under the "good" category." Other than that the two Big 12 North games are probably the most interesting.

Agreed. I really wanted to come up to Iowa for that game. I'm sure getting a ticket would be extremely tough if not impossible. If Iowa plays really well and Ohio State plays like it did against Cincinnati, an upset is very possible. I think Nebraska beats Kansas pretty handily. And as far as Mizzou/Colorado, I'm worried as well. Mizzou is ranked for the first time in forever, and Colorado played a better Georgia team tough. I'm hoping that, as TT suggested earlier, that loss demoralized them.

I believe this is the first time since 2004 that Mizzou has been ranked. What happened to them after they were ranked? They lost to Troy on National TV.

Lesson learned from Rutgers? If you play UNC, Illinois, Ohio and Howard, you too could be a member of the college football top 25.

And Georgia deserves to be in the top 10 because of those big time victories over W. Kentucky, S. Carolina, UAB and a one point win over a winless Colorado? I think you could say that about a lot of the 4-0 teams, yes...even Missouri.

Posted
Yeah, at this point no one at the bottom of the top 25 has played anybody, and if they have they already have one loss. Still, Mizzou's margin of victory over Ohio was greater, so they should be in front of Rutgers. :P

Yeah but Rutgers is 2-0 vs BCS schools while Missouri is 1-0 so hah!

I think once a team is 6-0 or 7-1 they have earned respect when I look at the schedules. TCU is a team that I think can sneak in an undefeated record with that schedule. I don't think they play a top 40 team all year.

SIU should have a cakewalk against Indiana State. They have now lost 25 in a row, and they have absolutely no defense at all. They may score their fair share of points (they did score over 30 against Purdue), but SIU's running game (best in I-AA) should run all over the Sycs.

NIU also *should* have a win against Ball State, sorry ndi. Ball St. lost to North Dakota St. last weekend, so it would be pretty miserable if NIU fell to 2-3 with 2 of the losses coming against Ohio and Ball St. I do remember the game in Muncie two years ago where Ball St. played their game of the season and took us to OT, but NIU still won. Hopefully it doesn't get that close this year, and hopefully NIU can avenge the loss that we had against them last year.

I agree, Flames, NIU should be favored and win fairly easily (I predicted 31-20 on my radio show yesterday). The sad part is that our run defense is pretty good and will likely keep Garrett Wolfe from exploding too much (under 150 rushing yards and 225 total yards would be a win in my book), but the seconday has simply been awful (NDSU, a running team, passed for 452 yards against us last week). Brady Hoke will make sure his team's ready to play after being thoroughly outcoached last week, and it should be a decent game, but I don't like our chances. If we somehow win though, NIU falls to 0-2 in the MAC and we can theoretically make it a two-horse race in the West with us and Toledo.

As for ND, anything short of complete annihilation of Purdue is unacceptable. The Boilers are among the worst 4-0 teams in the history of football and it really shouldn't be less than a 21-point win.

Amen. 2 losses in a row to Ball State would definitely spark the outrage of Horvath starting. For some reason, I'm not confident that NIU's passing game can do much against Ball St's horrible pass defense. Maybe if Horvath and the O-line can set up some screens to Wolfe, NIU will be alright.

I still think Wolfe should amass somewhere around 200 yards, but if Ball St. does stop Wolfe for around 4 yards a carry, the game will be much more interesting than what people think.

I know we're only 1/3 of the way in, but Northwestern is a "must win" game for PSU, especially at home.

I didn't think the Nittany Lions would be spectacular this year...pegged tham at 8-4 with a chance at a New Year's Day game (Citrus, Outback, etc.) and they've won and lost the games I thought they would so far. That said, they haven't looked good in either win, and looked horrible against ND. Their defense should be enough against the bottom feeders of the Big 10, but now 8 wins isn't so certain. They ought to beat NU, Illinois and Temple, so that's 5 wins. They'll probably lose to Michigan at home, so that's a 3rd loss. The uncertain games are Minnesota on the road, Michigan St. (at home I think), plus Purdue.

btw, Minnesota game may be moved to Thanksgiving weekend if the Twins make the playoffs, as that would create a schedule conflict at the HHH
