Let me see here..."I'm sorry I bet on baseball - Pete Rose". That's really nice, Pete.

http://img103.imageshack.us/img103/9869/budseligpm5.jpgbud_is_wiser: You know, Pete, I--

Wait, what's this on the other side? "LOUISVILLE OVER MIAMI $50"?

http://img103.imageshack.us/img103/9869/budseligpm5.jpgbud_is_wiser: Care to explain this?

http://img158.imageshack.us/img158/8607/peteroseng5.jpgcharlie_hustle: aw c'mon i said i was sorry

And...wait, what the hell is this? You also wrote an underlined number 6 on this ball.

You know whats funny? I am not even disgusted by this. I think its hilarious. The world needs characters, and Pete Rose is one of the least harmful of them out there.*

*Not considering the fact that gambling can have dangerous consequences.

http://img158.imageshack.us/img158/8607/peteroseng5.jpg charlie_hustle:no i mean i already apologized for this specific incident, if i may direct your attention to the other side of the ball

http://img158.imageshack.us/img158/8607/peteroseng5.jpg charlie_hustle:that's "bet" in the present tense. i bet on the baseball. so on the same baseball, I said I was sorry for betting on said baseball. i'm covered right?

HAHAHA. I don't usually find these too funny, but this is hilarious.

Wow, that's so pathetic. It's sad that Pete Rose, one of the all time greats, has sunk to this.

This brings me to a different point, which I don't have time to flesh out right now. Is Pete Rose really an all-time great? His career .303/.375/.409, 113 OPS+ line is Rusty Greer-esque. Was he merely a good player who just stuck around forever? I'm not claiming anything either way, I was just shocked by how pedestrian Rose's rate stats were.

I once agrued that Pete Rose really wasnt any better than Mark Grace with a friend. Its pretty damn close. Rose won on all the 'career totals' but all the averages Mark was right up there.

Pete is a money/fame whore. Its really quite comical.

Is there not something to be said for someone who plays at that level longer than anyone else can?

Those are actually some pretty respectable numbers for the time frame he played in. The HOF really isn't a HOF without Pete Rose.

Take off his stats from age 40 on and his career numbers look better.

I have no problem with Pete's baseballs. It's memorabilia.

I've seen pictures of the Bartman play autographed by none other than Moises Alou.

Players will do whatever in the memorabilia industy as long as they are paid for it.

Though, I did see Robin Ventura get pissy when someone asked him to sign this picture.

Agreed. I really don't see what the attention is all about. It's not like Pete is making the estimated $1,000 per ball.

Funny, I could swear I saw his autograph on that picture in Caesar's Palace in Vegas a year and a half ago.

That kooky Pete Rose.

What's next, a Krispy Kreme donut wrapper signed by Jim Hendry that says: "I'm sorry for putting together this piece of crap team."?

I would actually spend $10 on something like that and use it to wipe my....

Uh, nevermind.

I'm flipping through the channels and I see Pete Rose on a shop at home network. The product: signed 1989 Sports Illustrated copies with the inscription "I'm sorry I bet on baseball" for $399.96 per copy.

The company that planned on auctioning those baseballs should've known better than telling their plans so far in advance. By the time Pete takes advantage of the inscription those baseballs will not bring anything close to their original expectations.

Well they're both jerks, and both whores. So the comparisons are pretty good. But seriously Grace playing 7 more years after his abomination of a final year. Now that would be sweet to watch.
