I am not condoning this idea necessarily, but more or less the option is out there as I just noticed on the bottom line on ESPN.com that DBacks GM Josh Bynes has said that Luis Gonzalez will not be back with the team last year.

.824 OPS this year....sounds too tempting for Hendry to pass up.

No thanks. He's on his last legs. I expect his OPS to be sub .750 next year. He's not worth it, as he'll probably want a multi-year deal. Now, if he was willing to accept a one year $3 mil deal, I'd say platoon him with Jones/ have him off the bench. However, theres no way that happens.

I hope Hendry doesn't look at Gonzo. I think Murton is more valuable than what Gonzalez would bring at this stage.

I would hope he'd be a platoon partner for Jones and not take any playing time away from Murton, as his splits are pretty good for both righties and lefties.

So you're saying he'll be a cub.

I'd rather have Alou than Gonzo.

Does anybody think that Alou would agree to be a part-time player next year? I'm not sure he would, but him and Jacque in right field would be a dynamic duo. What salary do you think he will command, and do you think he will be a starter somewhere?

Jacque and Moises - Would that be the all-time worst baserunning platoon in major league history?

The defensive/throwing miscues would be pretty spectacular, too.

It would be-but the production out of right field would be around the top 5 right fields in the game-and of course it would also add a huge bat to the bench every day.

Yeah, virtually. It wouldn't surprise me if JH inked him to a deal as his "big bat" offseason acqusition.

Is there a young and good Luis Gonzalez that I don't know about?
Actually, yes (at least young; maybe not so good).
I would have to say no thanks to the one who was juiced a few seasons ago and is now in his 60s.
Come on now, he can't be a day over 55. :D

Eh, I'd take him if he could throw again. Haven't seen him lately but I remember after he had his surgery that he couldn't hit the cut off man to save his life. His fielding % is way up though since 2004. Someone please enlighten me to his ability to field these days.

Also I think that it is crazy that he has 50 doubles and only 71 rbi's is no one getting on base in front of him? where in the order does he usually bat?
