Haven't you heard? Dusty is batting Izturis seventh to keep him from having to run.

I pray you aren't being serious... but somehow, I know you are...

I improved my game record to 2-0 last night and had probably the most fun I've had at a Cubs game in a long time. (Every game I've gone to during pennant races they've lost) Last night's experience is why I scoff at people for complaining about peopel going to the games. Baseball games are fun. They're entertainment, and I'm not going to deprive myself of entertainment just because the team is horrible. It was little battles like getting to watch Scott Moore start at third, wearing a bag on my head as the Cubs sunk to a 7-0 hole, harassing J.D. Drew from the 4th inning on, (Stephen woulda caught that one JD!!)endless Les Walrond jokes, and yeah actually getting emotionally invested in an improbable 7 run comeback from a horrible team.

I like baseball.

EDIT: Oh and by rough estimate about 15,000 no shows last night. And by time the 10th rolled around, there were maybe about 12,000 left in the stands.

Rob, check this out (copied from another thread):

Izturis, who batted second in the Cubs’ lineup earlier, hit seventh Monday. Baker, however, sees him as a No. 2 hitter long term.

“I’m not batting him second today because I want to guard against him doing a bunch of running,” Baker said.

in case anyone didn't hear about this, they added a new rule stating that the guy who bats 7th gets to ride around the bases on either a skateboard or a golf cart.

There you go.

If it is all the same, I simulated a Dodgers/Cubs game for tonight using the current rosters (on MVP 05), and Cesar Izturis went 3-4 with 2 homeruns and 5 rbis, and the Cubs won, 14-2.

Yuck..one of my pet peeves recently has people spelling the word lose as loose. You see it all the time on message boards, but it was just on the WGN graphic. It said "The Dodgers have blown four 5 plus run leads to loose." It is just absolutely rampant recently.

Well, a couple of decently hard hit fly balls that inning, but the Cubs go down 1-2-3. It's 1-0 Dodgers after 1-it really looked like Guz settled down in the last part of the 1st, so hoepfully he can continue that.

BTW Raisin, just for your pitching line, Guz had 2 BB's and 1 H given up in the first-you have it the other way around.

What the heck was Anderson doing there?

Actually, we're both wrong. He had 2 hits (Furcal, Kent) and 2 BBs.

Gooz: 2 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 2 BB, 1 K, 36 pitches.
