So I heard the other day that never in MLB history has there been a team that did not have at least one complete game in a season, and even then, there have only been five teams that ONLY had one complete games. Did anyone else hear that? Doesn't sound right, but I suppose it is. If so, yet another embarrassing chapter in this horrible 2006 season.

Watch Rusch start the final game of the season and go all the way.

I can see it now. He gets Todd Helton to pop up for the last out in the 9th on his 213th pitch of the game, blowing out his arm in the process.

Would anyone have a problem with that?

Yea, because he would miss all of next year so Hendry would make him his reclamation project in 2008 because he never had the chance to fullfill his contract or something like that.

you're telling me that Z hasn't had one this year? surprising, as Dusty lets him throw roughly 110 pitches a game or so...i kinda just figured he'd gone all the way a couple times

No. Z hasn't had one. I think he could have but they were being cautious. Guess it takes your entire pitching staff to go down to learn that lesson.

The topic came up the other day when I THINK it was Hill was doing great and went through the 8th, then after commercial, he was out in the 9th. I was kind of hoping he'd get to try for it, to fend off yet another embarassing stat.

I'm thinking with 5 rookies in the rotation, we're not likely to have a complete game. Oh well.... wait til next year, or the year after that or maybe even the year after that....

this is actually kind of amazing

Given that Dusty "When I played, guys threw 350 innings and were still fresh for the playoffs" Baker is still our manager, it truly is amazing. Maybe he has learned at least a little bit this last year. Or maybe that's because Wood and Prior haven't been around enough to abuse.

Who would have predicted at the beginning of the year that Hill would have a CG shutout? Baseball makes fools of us all.

I've been on Rich Hill's side, but even I wouldn't have seen this. .
