Damn, great save, and then so so close from Dax

What a crappy way to end it, PK's would have been better. Dax played great all game, great fitness too. Cunningham should have done better. That was a great save too.

Cunningham completely scuffed that. Horrible.

Dax is a better player than I had given him credit for.

Its always difficult to take 5'3" ginger seriously. He is not afraid to strike from distance and put the ball on target well tonight too.

Yeah this neutral of a site was complete crap too.

Supposedly the [expletive] TFC fans staged a walkout at halftime to protest their inept management. Garber's announcement of the new playoff format was pants too. Keep it at 8, seed it single table, do away with conferences, and you solve the problem.

Instead, we have now the possibility of the 9th and 10th best teams winning MLS Cup.

8 is perfect, and almost too many. He mentioned something about a play-in game too which is pointless.

The league's tinkering makes it so anti-climactic. I love playoffs because I'm a red damn blooded american who eats steaks and breathes freedom but when a team like Colorado wins, it's anti-climactic. It just is. At least last year you could point to Kreis' management or Landon's penalty miss. This year it was bad officiating, an own goal and jerk off toronto fans that become the story.

The Houston v New England series were awesome, but since then, Columbus v NY was bogus because NY was an 8 seed that won the "West", same thing happened last year when RSL won the "East" and of course this year with Colorado winning the "East."

Edit - I'll say this about Colorado though. I don't know who their GM is, but we talk a lot about foreigners who struggle understanding the American player. Colorado's management team is English, and they completely remade this team through savvy, in-league moves like Wynne and Moor at the CB, Larentowicz pairing the middle with Mastro and pairing Cummings and Casey. Really good moves. Well done to them.

I am finding myself needing a confidence boost going into the 2022 WC. I'm worried we left the door open for Australia. How confident is everyone?

Dax is unprotected in the expansion draft. He's solid value for an expansion side. I'd snap him up.

It's either us or Qatar and if it goes to Qatar than you know some dudes at FIFA just got even richer. The heat and security threat alone should rule them out. I live in the damn desert and the last thing I want to do in July is sit outside baking while drinking, screaming, singing and carrying on. People will die if it is held there. Ive done that many times and you have to be careful how long you stay out. Some pasty mofo from England who hasn't seen the sun for months at a time who's had too many pints will die of heat stroke.

Personally I hope it's in Australia. 2022 I'll be 37 and presumably making enough money to go.

I would not be surprised to see Australia as the favorites in 2026 if they don't win 2022. I really don't see how Qatar is even an option at all, then again its FIFA.

Neither do I, but I've heard talk about them building air-conditioned stadiums.

Seriously.

The video of all their proposed stadiums was pretty fancy.

Knowing nothing about Qatar at all. Are they capable of this financing without running into the trouble Dubai is in now?

Don't know for sure but I am of the impression Qatar is a more stable oil/gas power, while Dubai ventured out. I think they can certainly finance it without a problem, but oil/gas is a volatile market and has crashed in the past.

They aren't going to give the World Cup to effing Qatar. They can build all the air conditioned, indoor stadia they want. They have one city. It would break all of FIFA's rules regarding hosting capabilities to put 12 stadia in one city, or in a bunch of pissant villages or whatever they have there. No one from Europe is going to want to go to Doha to party. The bid is all about FIFA's ExCo getting paid during the process, and Qatar will end up getting some press for their little league or whatever.

It's us or the Aussies. I think we have it in the bag.

Qatar hosting the World Cup would be completely asinine. Surely there is no way FIFA is that stupid. I've always pretty much considered it a fait accompli that the US would get the 2022 World Cup, but, I must admit, am getting nervous it won't work out that way.

I just don't trust the [expletive] people voting, that's my concern.

Tottenham on to the knockout stage and with a win in two weeks, they'll win the group because of those three goals Bale scored in Italy to make it 4-3. If he would have only scored one, Inter would win a tiebreaker.

Interesting expansion draft results.

Portland:

1. FC Dallas MF Dax McCarty

2. Columbus D Eric Brunner

3. Columbus MF Adam Moffat

4. Colorado D Anthony Wallace

5. Real Salt Lake D David Horst

6. Real Salt Lake F Robbie Findley*

7. Chicago MF Peter Lowry

8. Chivas USA D Jonathan Bornstein*

9. D.C. United D Jordan Graye

10. San Jose MF Arturo Alvarez

Bornstein is leaving but it'll be nice for them to own his rights when he inevitably returns from Mexico. McCarty is a solid midfielder to build around as is Brunner at D. Wallace, Findley and Alvarez have a lot of talent.

1. Seattle MF Sanna Nyassi

2. Dallas F Atiba Harris

3. Seattle MF Nathan Sturgis

4. Philadelphia MF Shea Salinas

5. Chivas USA F Alan Gordon

6. Toronto F O'Brian White

7. Philadelphia F Alejandro Moreno

8. San Jose GK Joe Cannon

9. Kansas City D Jonathan Leathers

10. Chicago MF John Thorrington

Solid picks in Harris, Sturgis, Gordon, Moreno, Cannon and Thorrington. A lot of experience in the league there. Nyassi has huge upside, I love that pick. If Zakuani goes to Everton as is rumored, Seattle could have a ton of holes to fill.
