I still find it hard to believe FIFA would screw over both the US and China here, just to have a World Cup in a middle-eastern country with no facilities and one of the worst teams in Asia.

 

I thought China was expected to be next in line? 2026.

 

Something tells me FIFA will move Qatar to a different federation sometime between now and then so as to keep China 2026 a possibility.

Well, Australia just recently switched from Oceania to Asia. So you could always see something contrived like that with Qatar, so China could still get the 2026 World Cup. Or FIFA could just ignore their rules. I mean, who cares right?

Halfway to being right on both my predictions. FIFA is going to chase the butterflies. The butterflies aren't in competent, uncorrupt, developed countries like England and the United States. The butterflies are in (the bribing countries) Russia and Qatar.
