So did I, luckily they have espn2 on at the gym. Of course I left soon after I realized it just so I could listen to it.

First off, big ups to Landon. He was ridiculous today, and he did it against a final 16 World Cup team with most of it's players present. He showed a gear in attack that I've not seen from him in a long time. He was just exploding past defenders. Also keep in mind he drew what should have been a PK and nearly scored on another 1v1. He played almost a perfect game. That 3rd goal into the upper 90 was a rip.

Benny F. was pretty good, I thought. He knew when to attack, distributed well out of the middle. Light years better than Ricardo Clark. Tim Howard was very good, made a couple nice saves.

The US back line showed why we got bounced in Germany. A lot of miscommunications and space for the Ecuadorians. Wasn't impressed with them.

I'm also going to have to disagree with Bruce Arena's assesment of Dempsey's play. Yes, he should have finished the ball from Boca in the six. No doubt about that; it should have been a goal. But to say he was "quiet" and "not dangerous" was just wrong, especially when compared to Beasley, whom Arena praised. Clint was very active in the first half and caused a lot of issues for Ecuador, AND sent a lot of nice through passes through to the player formerly known as Eddie Johnson. He ran out of gas in the 2nd half, but it was a game much better than the Mexico performance, and MUCH better than Beasley's today. DMB got owned all day by his counterpart in both thirds of the field. His touch wasn't very good, and he just didn't have much danger to his movement.

Speaking of sucking, Eddie Johnson is just terrible. Simply terrible. He's tentative all the time, and squandered several clear chances. He really shouldn't be on the field anymore until he gets his head on straight. Ching played pretty well, especially playing the target to Landon's back striker. Twellman didn't do much, unfortunatly.

This was a really exciting game, though. Up and down, great pace to the action, and it was very nice to see the US beat a very good team in such a fashion. I really enjoyed watching this one.

LA's sponsorship deal doesn't look so hot:

The deal is through 2011 and worth roughly $20 million, give or take a few million, though.

Gold Cup tickets go on sale Thursday morning.

Any Bears season ticket holders that want to give me their Gold Cup presale password? I'll buy you a beer. Or become your full time slave. Whatever ti takes.

Didn't know, but figured. And, yes, I'm very jealous. Jerk.

:P - It was so easy, too, all I did was fill in a form at UEFA.com about a month ago and then they told me I was successful on Friday. Euro 2008 tickets are going the same way too, now, but I can't really afford.

Wow, what a game by Donovan. Truly inspired play.

Also, those jerseys look much better than the World Cup ones. I like.

Check out the SWEET new jerseys.

I liked them too, reminded me of the old 89 Paul Calageri style jerseys.

I've looked, but nobody has posted it. Only the one for Houston.

I'm probably going to wait until after the semi-finals to purchase. I'd be looking for $30 seats, anyways, and I'm still not sure I can go.

By the way, the semi-final is a double header of games at 6 PM and 9 PM. It appears to be the same price range. Not a bad value.

I may be wrong here, but it's my estimation that the finals will sell out before the semis are played.

Well, I originally read it may top 50,000+, but I just re-checked and noticed that the entire 400 level and 300 levels in the endzones will be closed. Guess I better buy Thursday, then.

Gimme a link that says 300 and 400s are closed. That would be unconscionably dumb if it's the case

Yeah, 10 AM.

Well, doesn't look like that's the case. Ticketmaster.com does list the 400 section. But the seating chart released by the Fire had the 400 section grayed out.

This is the seating chart the Fire released for the presale. I believe only the lower level is being sold for the presale, but they have the upper levels grayed out.

Either way, though, I'd only be going for $30. If 400 isn't available, I'll settle for endzone.

Looking at the groupings gives me a headache. Is it possible for the US to meet Mexico in the final?

it is. If they both top or finish second in their groups, they'll end up on different sides of the elimination bracket. The tournament's actually blatantly stacked to make them meet in the finals.

Ok, good. I started getting confused in the quarterfinals when they began transposing some of the letters and numbers.

The presale runs through Wednesday, I believe, so I'll let you know if I find a password.

Desperate enough to go posting on fat wallet?

I sent that guy on BigSoccer.com a PM. We'll see if I get a reply.
